Today our residents enjoyed a fun “Animal Movie Bloopers” program, learning how Hollywood often depicts animals incorrectly while meeting the real creatures up close! 🐢🐍
Lots of laughs, surprises, and warm moments filled the room as residents discovered the truth behind movie myths. 💛✨

💛 A Beautiful WOW Moment to Reminisce with Ms. Helen
When we asked our Inspiritás-Memory Care resident, Ms. Helen, what she would love to experience again, her heartfelt answer was simple: “Go to the casino.” 🎰✨
Ms. Helen is usually quiet and reserved… but the moment we arrived, she lit up. Her smile said everything.
We spent the day at MGM National Harbor, where the familiar sounds of the slot machines brought a sparkle to her eyes. As a true slot-machine veteran, she shared her favorite tips, memories, and stories—each one full of joy and nostalgia.
We also visited the beautiful “Tribute to the DMV” exhibit in The Conservatory. After living in the DMV for over five decades, it was a touching moment for her to reflect on the place she has long called home. ❤️
This outing was more than just a trip—it was a chance to see Ms. Helen shine, to honor her memories, and to share a day filled with warmth and happiness.

What a beautiful evening celebrating the rich harvest of the season.
Our four-course Taste of RUI menu featured:
✨ Butternut squash soup topped with crème fraîche, toasted pepitas, and fresh sage
✨ Fall kale salad with apples, goat cheese, almonds & cranberry-poppyseed lemon dressing
✨ Five-spice NY strip steak with mashed sweet potatoes, fall-spiced apples, roasted white chocolate & fig-wine reduction
✨ Pumpkin–pecan crisp with vanilla whipped cream & PA maple syrup
A perfect night of cozy flavors and autumn magic. 🍂✨

We are thrilled to share that our very own Harpreet Kaur has been named the 2025 Caregiver of the Year by the Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA)! For more than 17 years, Harpreet has poured her heart into “delivering a lifestyle our residents have earned and deserve” at Heatherwood. Her dedication, compassion, and steady presence have made her a cornerstone of our community.
