I just wanted to share a personal story this Monday before Veterans Day!
Some mugs just hold coffee. Mine holds 20 years of life: first jobs, lifelong friendships, three deployments, and now, a mission-driven business.
At 15, I was slinging lattes at Caribou Coffee with my best friend. That’s when I picked up this simple “Proud to Serve” mug. I had no idea it would follow me across the world.
Wrapped in Army t-shirts and packed into my tough box, this mug traveled with me through three deployments. In the chaos of war, it gave me a piece of home — a quiet morning ritual, a reminder of who I was beyond the uniform.
Now, it sits chipped and worn in my office at Higher Recruitment, Inc., the company I founded to help veterans transition into purpose-driven civilian careers.
That mug — cracked but strong — reminds me: we don’t have to be unbroken to be powerful. We carry our stories, our scars, and our strength with pride.
Tomorrow, we honor Veterans Day — a moment to remember that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off. It evolves.
To my brothers and sisters who’ve served: your resilience inspires me every day.
To — thank you. You didn’t just make a mug. You made a legacy.
I raise mine to every veteran finding new purpose beyond the battlefield.
