This weekend, my incredible wife, Jamie ( )conquered the Burning đŸ”„ River 🌊100 Mile Endurance Run—crossing the finish line in 24:02:55. She placed 7th female, 1st in her age group, and 28th overall
all while shattering her 100-mile PR by nearly 8 hours! 🙌What most people don’t see are the battles fought in the shadows. This year, she’s endured the loss of her father and uncle, food poisoning before Mohican, and the discovery of severe anemia after grinding through 40 of the 100 miles at Mohican on nearly no fuel. Just 2.5 days before Burning River, she received her first iron treatment—leaving her fatigued until race morning.Yet, on race day, God’s hand was evident. We overhauled her fueling, prayed for strength, and watched His blessings unfold mile after mile. She ran with a power that wasn’t her own, a strength that came from above.đŸ’Ș To go from surviving Mohican to thriving at Burning River—only a month apart—is nothing short of miraculous. Watching you, Jamie, push through pain, loss, and weakness to glorify the One who made you was beautiful. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).You are tough as nails yet washed white as snow by His nail-scarred hands.Jamie you are absolutely incredible.I love you and am so proud of you, both on and off the trail. This victory belongs to Him. All glory to God! ✝❀

100 miles!!! Jamie Harcar did it again—crossing the finish line of her second 100-mile ultramarathon at the 36th Annual Mohican Trail 100 in Loudonville, OH!

This wasn’t just any race. Mohican 100/50 Trail and Marathon Trail Races is the 5th oldest 100-mile ultramarathon in the U.S., and the longest continuously running 100-miler, thanks to its perseverance through the pandemic. But historical prestige doesn’t make it any easier—this course demands everything from its runners. In 2025, only 112 finished out of 201 starters. That’s a 55.7% finish rate
and Jamie was one of them.

Over 12,800 feet of climbing, with no mercy in the cutoff times—and that’s just the math on paper. What it doesn’t show is the cold that dropped into the 40s at night, the long miles between crew access points, or the gnarly “Enchanted Forest” in Loop 1, full of downed trees, root climbs, and bushwhacking.

And this year? An extra twist: major trail reroutes around storm-blown trees added unexpected mileage, making the race even longer than its usual 100.2 miles—all without extending the 32-hour cutoff.

She trained for heat and humidity but faced cold, isolation, and detours. And through grit, resilience, and a whole lot of heart, she kept moving forward.

She was determined to finish—no matter how long it took. And she did. Another hard-earned belt buckle. Another mark of courage.

I am beyond proud of you, Jamie. Your strength, your spirit, and your refusal to give up inspire me more than words can say.

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” – Romans 5:3–4.

You ran with perseverance—and you lit the trail with hope.

đŸ«¶ Myah Haid - For everything you did running for 42+ miles and running her into the finish line.

For those who don’t know, I created Risen Runner to honor my incredible wife, Jamie Harcar.

At one point, the world tried to s***f out her light — but God had other plans. Through her, I learned firsthand:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5 NLT)

I’ve watched Jamie go from the couch to conquering PA’s toughest mountain marathon, run a brutally hard 100-mile winter trail race, and come back to win 1st female overall at one of PA’s hardest 50Ks — all within a year!

This isn’t to boast — it’s to celebrate the unshakable will, faith, and strength God placed inside her.

The world tried to break her, but greater is HE who is in her than anything against her.

Risen Runner is a tribute to Jamie’s spirit — and a reminder to you:

You are not defined by your circumstances.
You are stronger than you know.
You were created to rise.

RISE UP. Keep shining. You were made for this.

On Saturday April 5, 2025, my incredible wife Jamie Harcar () and our friend Myah Haid () set out on a new ultra running adventure—one defined by endurance, friendship, and relentless weather.

Together, they completed and established a new Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Butler Freeport Community Trail (Out & Back) in Pennsylvania—a scenic and rugged 40-mile route.

Their journey began at 6:19 AM and ended at 4:17 PM, with a total elapsed time of 9 hours, 58 minutes, and 33 seconds.

In true Jamie and Myah fashion, no ultra is complete without a storm. With a forecast calling for morning thunderstorms, 20 mph winds, and all-day rain, nature did not disappoint. The day kicked off with lightning, then settled into a steady downpour—creating dramatic mist, roaring waterfalls, and high currents along Buffalo Creek. The trail was soaked, the skies were dark, and it was perfect.

Huge thanks to our amazing friends Megan, Angie, and Kate, who came out to support and log miles with Jamie and Myah, bringing joy and energy along the way.

The expedition was led and expertly managed by Crew Captain Sean Harcar (), who supported the entire 40-mile effort from start to finish.

Fueling the FKT:
‱ Jamie powered her run with Bare Performance Nutrition Gels (), Huma Gel (), Honey Stinger Gels (), and Skratch Labs Energy Chews & Hydration ().
‱ Myah crushed it with Lay’s Classic Chips (), Nerds Candy (), Skratch Energy Chews, Tailwind Nutrition Hydration (), and her iconic .

This was more than just a run—it was a celebration of grit, community, and adventure.

Long training efforts like this are about so much more than simply logging miles. They’re about discovering joy and adventure throughout the process. The miles themselves are a gift—they give us the space to grow, reflect, and strengthen ourselves inside and out. Every step forward is a chance to become more grounded, more connected, and more human.

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
— Romans 15:13 (NLT)

Jamie and Myah are most definitely . And now, they’re also and official holders of a new .

About Us

The Butler County Milers was founded in 2020 as a way to bring together a community of people who share a love of running and being active. Our members meet twice weekly for a combination of training and casual runs, with walkers, joggers and full-on runners of every pace. Our Saturday morning Run+Coffee series is the perfect opportunity for new runners to not only get active but socialize with other members. We meet at Cummings Coffee on Main Street for a casual 3 mile jog around downtown Butler, meeting back at Cummings afterwards for drinks. Tuesday runs give members the chance to put in some training miles. Our running club meets in the evening at the Butler County Community College to run along the Shaffer Walking Trail. The 1 mile loop around campus is a hilly, yet scenic, route that allows members to choose their own distance and pace, giving them freedom to pursue their own training goals. Following our Tuesday evening runs, our club joins together at Yoga On Main for their Buti Yoga class, a great way to unwind and let loose after a long run. Whether you’re looking to get more active or training for the next big event, the Butler County Milers is the club for you!
