Red Earth Wildcrafted is born out of a love of this land and a desire to help others connect with nature, through the magic of wild foods and plant medicine. We offer herbal self-care and seasonal wellness products rooted in place and inspired by the wheel of the year. You can find our products locally in downtown Shreveport at The Agora Borealis or online in our Etsy shop. Our products are made with ethically wild harvested and/or homegrown herbs. We have been wildcrafters and medicine makers for over a decade and are committed to providing you with safe and effective herbal remedies and delicious wild food products to elevate and rewild your kitchen experience. Education is also a large part of what we do. We lead wild plant walks, both publicly and privately, and also offer land consultations for homeowners seeking to learn the edibles and/or medicinals on their own land. We also teach workshops on a variety of topics related to wild foods, herbalism, ancestral skills and natural living. Another core offering is Herbal Health Consultation. This personalized service is invaluable for anyone looking to improve their health and well-being with herbs and lifestyle modifications, gently guided by a compassionate and experienced clinical herbalist. We are also available for consultancy projects involving local or regional businesses and chefs looking to incorporate wild foods into their catalog or menus. This can look very different depending on the project, so if this sounds like something you or your company is interested in, we are happy to chat about your needs. Emily Mills is a graduate of the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine, and a lifelong student of the healing path. She has trained in various modalities such as Rebirthing Breathwork, Kundalini Yoga and Holistic Nutrition, which she incorporates into her work as a clinical herbalist. She is currently working towards AHG membership. Daniel is a naturalist, botany nerd, amateur mycologist, resident wildcrafter and practitioner of Tensegrity, a style of shamanic movement created by Carlos Castaneda. He is currently working to improve his ability to procure protein from our landscape. Red Earth Wildcrafted bridges the gap between ancestral food and medicine. We firmly believe that food is medicine, and that eating the wild is powerfully transformative.

I have to admit- although foraging for and now growing our own oyster mushrooms has long been a favorite activity- I haven’t always given them the credit they deserve as a medicinal mushroom in their own right. With constituents that support our immune and cardiovascular systems, this is a fine and abundant mushroom to get to know ❤️

Timely project! Jewelweed is already popping up all along our lakes and bayous, and our local Artemisia ludoviciana can be substituted for the mugwort. Elderberries won’t be until midsummer but dried are fine too ❤️

Easy ways to teach children about plants and herbs I love making things with my kids. We make a lot of art together but lately we’ve been getting creative with herbs and plants. We have a community garden plot and they enjoy coming with me to see what is growing and to harvest tomatoes and flowers...

There’s something about that
I’m feeling really grateful for the abundance we have co-created with nature on our land, and I’m trying to not lose sight of that in these crazy times.
I’ve started blogging again- just a little comeback post so if you ever followed my blog, you might want to start again! ❤️

I’ve got a small number of items back in stock in my Etsy shop. Starting slow but wanting to be of service right now. Medicinal mushroom dual extracts (reishi, turkey tail and lion’s mane), Vigor & Vim wild spring green glycerite, medicinal broth blend and more.
Local friends, I am happy to door drop orders- just DM me and we can get it going.

A few non-traditional foods from our yard/garden. -Shiso (yes, again. I’m feeling particularly drawn to eating this plant this year. I like to think my body is needing a nutrient or chemical that’s abundant in shiso. I mean, it is deeply medicinal, after all.) -Egyptian walking onion, which I added to the shiso for a big batch of chimichurri style sauce, which means I put them in the food processor with salt and oil. Would you believe that these crazy awesome looking onions are the same species as regular old yellow onions? Perennial onions in the garden are a must! -Dahlia blossoms because I needed to deadhead other blooms and wanted to try them. I just recently discovered that dahlias aren’t just edible- in fact, the tuber has been a staple crop for people in Mexico and Central America for a long, long time. Dahlias are in the sunflower family, and seem to be quite similar in nature to the Jerusalem artichoke/sunchoke. I’m feeling really excited by that looking forward to getting to know this plant as a food in the years to come!
I’ve been a plant person- foraging and consuming wild plants, making medicine with them, growing plants and spending my free time constantly learning and experimenting for about 15 years now. And I am still learning! There are always new plants to discover, new uses for or stories about old friends, and so much more beyond that. More than just this one short lifetime could hold. @ Caddo, Louisiana
