Pathways for Inclusion is proud to announce Amelia Ault, sophomore at Edison High School, as the newest recipient of the Community CHIME Award, recognizing her exceptional leadership and commitment to creating inclusive opportunities within Jefferson County.
The Community CHIME Award was established by Pathways for Inclusion to recognize individuals who actively strengthen our community through Compassion, Heart, Inclusion, Mentorship, and Empowerment — the core values represented by “CHIME.” The award was created to spotlight everyday leaders — youth and adults alike — who see a need, take initiative, and work collaboratively to ensure all individuals, particularly those with disabilities, feel valued, welcomed, and included.
This recognition honors those who are not only passionate about inclusion, but who put that passion into meaningful action that creates lasting impact.
Amelia exemplifies these values through the creation of SOULS (Special Olympics Unified Livestock Show) for Jefferson County 4-H and FFA. (Special Olympics Unified Livestock Show - SOULS)
Inspired by her sister, Amelia recognized a lack of inclusive opportunities within the traditional 4-H livestock showing experience. Rather than accepting that gap, she envisioned something better — a program that would allow individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to participate fully in the livestock show environment alongside their peers.
SOULS is now a collaborative initiative involving Jefferson County 4-H, FFA organizations, the Special Olympics Unified Sports program, the Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the Jefferson County Fair Board, and local school districts — a true community partnership built around inclusion.
In its inaugural year in 2024, the SOULS program paired exhibitors with intellectual or developmental disabilities with mentors from 4-H clubs and FFA organizations. These mentors guided participants through the livestock show process, helping build confidence, skills, friendships, and a sense of belonging. The program not only expanded access but also strengthened understanding and unity across youth organizations in the county.
Pathways for Inclusion had the honor of presenting Amelia with the Community CHIME Award during Edison High School’s Unified Basketball game last week against Indian Creek — a setting that perfectly reflected the spirit of inclusion and teamwork that Amelia champions. The event served as a powerful reminder that when communities come together, everyone benefits.
“Amelia embodies exactly why the Community CHIME Award exists,” said Amanda DeLuca. “She noticed who was missing, asked why, and worked tirelessly to create a solution that brings people together. Her leadership is creating ripple effects far beyond the livestock arena.”
Pathways for Inclusion is deeply honored to recognize Amelia Ault for her vision, determination, and unwavering belief that inclusion should never be optional — it should be the standard.
Congratulations Amelia!
