Hospice of St. Mary's The hospice philosophy holds that end-of-life care should emphasize quality of life. You matter to the last moment of your life.

Hospice is a philosophy of caring for those with a life-threatening illness. Hospice focuses on patient and family-centered care that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of the patient. Hospice cares for patients in a variety of settings: home, nursing homes, assisted living centers and the Hospice House. The goal of hospice services is best expressed in the words of modern-day hospice founder Dame Cicely Saunders: "You matter because you are you. We will do all we can, not only to help you die in peace, but also to live until you die."

Hospice staff works with a patient and family to provide support and choices during a difficult and confusing time. Hospice staff can explain what is going on, how to take care of the person, and what to expect.

We also provide a 24/7 telephone line to call when crises or questions arise, so no one is alone trying to figure out what to do.

Our team is dedicated to enabling everyone to be fully present and make the most of the time they have.

As a hospice, we'll meet you where you are.

Most patients are cared for in the place they call home, which is where most people would prefer to be. If they want to and are able to be home, hospice will come to your home. If home is not available, our team will work with our patients and families to find the next best option whether that be something like our residential Hospice House or another solution.

We're here to support the wishes of our patients and families- and to focus on improving quality of life and reducing stress at this critical time.
