The Garden State Coalition for Care presents a webinar for advocates addressing the implications of the "One Big Beautiful Bill" on our state's Medicaid program, NJ FamilyCare. "Protecting Care: What New Jersey Advocates Need to Know About H.R. 1" will equip advocates with the information they need to understand and respond.

🔸Thursday, December 11th
🔸2pm to 3:15pm
🔸Register at: https://bit.ly/3XDkZfb

Experts from the Garden State Coalition for Care will provide a high-level overview of H.R. 1, outlining its origins, major provisions, and its direct and indirect impacts on older adults and people with disabilities, and their caregivers. The presentation will highlight how funding restrictions and new administrative requirements could limit access to optional Medicaid services, including services that support people remaining in their homes and communities.

Speakers will also examine implications for the Medicaid expansion population, including work requirements, eligibility redeterminations, and cost sharing provisions. The presentation will conclude with state-level strategies and advocacy opportunities to protect access to care, followed by time for Q&A.

This webinar is created specifically for advocates. A second webinar on H.R. 1 will be held in the new year with content geared towards individuals and families.

Space is limited. Register today! Submit your questions in advance.

The Camden County Council On Economic Opportunity (OEO) is proud to launch our annual 5 Weeks of Giving campaign from December 2, 2025, to January 2, 2026. This initiative is dedicated to supporting families, empowering youth, strengthening homes, and nourishing our neighbors throughout Camden County. Each week highlights a vital area of need within our community, and together, we aim to extend hope, warmth, and opportunity to those who need it most.

This year’s theme, “Together We Give. Together We Grow.”, reflects our belief that meaningful change happens when a community comes together with purpose and compassion. We invite you to join us in this mission by contributing to our seasonal giving efforts.

WEEK 1 – Warm Hearts, Warm Homes
Focus: Energy Assistance & Weatherization Programs
Goal: Raise funds and awareness for families struggling to keep their homes warm this winter.

WEEK 2 – Nourish Our Neighbors
Focus: Nutrition Programs
Goal: Raise money to feed families in need. Purchase gift cards for families

WEEK 3 – Empower Our Youth
Focus: Youth Empowerment & Education (YAP Program)
Goal: Support skill-building, mentorship, and job-readiness for young adults ages 16–24.

WEEK 4 – Home for the Holidays
Focus: Homeless Prevention
Goal: Provide emergency shelter and support for individuals and families facing homelessness.

WEEK 5 – The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Focus: Community-Wide Gratitude & Reflection
Goal: Celebrate donors, volunteers, and partners — and inspire final-week giving.

We respectfully invite you to stand with Camden County OEO during this season of giving. Your generosity—whether through a financial contribution, purchasing needed items, or supporting a specific weekly theme—has the power to bring warmth, nourishment, stability, and hope to families who are depending on us. With your support, we can ensure that every household we serve feels cared for, uplifted, and remembered during a time when community matters most. Together, we can make a lasting impact that extends far beyond the holidays and into the lives and futures of those who need it most.

Thank you in advance for your kindness, commitment, and belief in our mission.

Our History and Mission

CCILC was founded in 1991 by Mrs. Lorraine Culbertson (Mrs. C) and she served as the first Executive Director of Camden City Independent Living Center. Born and raised in Camden, Mrs. C graduated from Camden High School in 1955. She received a degree in Criminal Justice from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1975. Throughout her life, Mrs. C found time to teach, work with prison inmates, and sell real estate. However, her work at CCILC was perhaps her greatest achievement.

The Camden City Independent Living Center, INC. (CCILC) is a non-profit, grass-roots organization that is fully governed by a board of directs, of which fifty-one (51%) percent is disabled. CCILC exists to empower individuals with disabilities to take charge of their lives, to raise a family and participate fully in all educations vocational, and governmental and social activities in our society and their community. The disabled community is made aware that CCILC is "their" center and that we will advocate and work with them to provide the programs and services needed in developing their abilities to lead purposeful lives. It is our mission whenever possible to seek the most productive and independent lifestyles as possible for the city of Camden's disabled residents.

CCILC is dedicated to providing Camden City Residents with disabilities the opportunity to actively participate in society.
