I AM BACK!

It has been seven wonderful months of soaking in our new baby girl, but I feel like we are ready, and it is time to get back to my ministry of helping women.

This is something that God has laid on my heart for quite some time now, and I am so excited to be back.

Things to note:
*I no longer have a set fee.
*From this moment on, I work solely off of what each family is able to afford. That's going to look very different for each family, and can be discussed on a case by case basis.
*While I will never turn down a woman in need of support, I encourage you, if you are able to afford the fees for other doulas, please reach out to them. Not only will you be supporting and providing an income for them, but you will be reserving my calendar for those families who truly can't afford somebody else.

I feel like helping the lower income families is exactly where God has called me, and I am excited to step out in faith to provide them my services.

If you have any questions about booking me as your doula, or about helping the lower income families I serve, please do not hesitate to message me!

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, many hospitals are limiting the number of people allowed back with a laboring mother. I have contacted all the hospitals within my client radius. Every hospital I have contacted is listing Doulas as "visitors". The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (ACOG) and The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) both support the presence of a doula during labor and birth. If you plan to give birth at any of the following hospitals, I urge you to call and express your concern about the possibility of not having your doula present. Doulas are part of the birth team, and should be viewed as such, not as a visitor.

These are the hospitals I've been in contact with, and their policies for labor support (spouse/father/partner and doulas) as the COVID-19 response.

*Methodist Medical Center of Oakridge- 1 support person allowed. They can NOT switch out with others.

*Fort Sanders Regional- 1 support person allowed. They can NOT switch out with others.

*UT medical Center- 2 support people allowed. They can NOT switch out with others.

*Tennova Birthing Center- 2 support people allowed.

*Middlesboro ARH- 2 support people allowed.

*Baptist Health of Corbin- 2 support people allowed. They CAN switch out with others.

*Lake Cumberland Regional- 1 support person allowed.

*CHI St. Joseph of London- 2 support people allowed.

*Cumberland Medical Center- 1 support person allowed.

*LeConte Medical Center- 1 support person allowed, but Dr. may make exceptions for doulas on a case by case basis.

*Family Birthing Center at Blount Memorial- 2 or more support people allowed during labor. No more than 2 adults within immediate family following birth. Siblings allowed on a case by case basis.

I have been seeing a lot of pregnancy announcements lately. Remember that doulas are much like many other trained care providers in that we need so many hours of hands on work to receive our certifications.
For a limited time, I am offering discounted services to any client who books with me before I physically receive my certification!

"A low, throaty sound is productive and sends the breath downward helping baby to descend during birth."

Did you make noise during your labor? I know I did.

・・・
Making sounds in labor is totally normal, even for births, however some sounds are more effective during labor than others.

A high pitched screaming sound is not helpful and usually is a sign of fear. Taking fear into labor signals you are in danger and can cause labor to slow or rest.

A low, throaty sound is productive and sends the breath downward helping baby to descend during birth. The throat is also directly connected to your perineum so having a relaxed throat will ensure a relaxed perineum. Try it😉. 📸
