For anyone who gets their psych meds from Walmart.
For folks who do not know, the Pres and RFK have created a Make America Healthy Act.
This act says in several parts that folks with mental health problems, cancers, autoimmune disorders, substance abuse problems, and a whole host of other medical conditions pose a danger to the well being of America.
RFK proposes "health camps" for the above-mentioned where those sent could be "treated" for an indefinite period of time.
Additionally, RFK opposed many medications for mental health, such as meds for depression, PTSD, and ADHD.
The video shows one woman's experience at Walmart, where pharmacist indicated a policy change.
Please let your doctor's know if you are questioned. Pharmacist notes are NOT bound by confidentiality. Pharmacists are also not trained in the diagnosis and treatment protocols for your medical ailments. Pharmacists DO know how all your medicines will interact. And they know side effects like no one else. They also know the chemicals in pills etc. They may know which meds are for what conditions, but they are not trained in the assessment and treatment and complexities involved in your diagnoses. That is what your medical docs are for for medical conditions and your psychologist is for for psychological conditions. Licensed social workers and counselors can also diagnose and treat psychological problems.
Your doctors and therapists can check with their ethics boards about how to help you protect your physical and mental health...as well as your information about your physical and mental health.
I have not heard what the next steps are or how this information will be being used. You can call your insurance companies and ask why they are asking for this info. You can also call your representatives and ask if these questions are linked to the Make America Healthy Act and express your opinion Abt it if yes.
You DO have a right to 1. Ask what that Info is being requested for. 2. Ask how they will protect your Information since it is considered private. 3. Ask is the policy a Walmart policy, insurance or fed regulatory agency. 4. Ask if you can still get meds if you choose to give NO answer, or say "I decline to answer" (bc that is an answer) or say "I don't remember" or you will hv to get that I for from my doc. 5. Ask to have your prescription transferred to another pharmacy. 6. Call other pharmacies and see if they hv same policy. It is possible some small private pharmacies (like eastridge Phelps or hometown pharmacy) may not hv same policies as the big box corporate pharmacies.
As I learn more, I will post something. I am letting folks know because many people I treat will be impacted by this executive decisions.
I will be reaching out to the KY Psychologist Association Board (that I sit on-full disclosure) and the American Psychological Association to see if there is more Info about this.
I will do my best to mention anything I have fact checked pertaining to potential changing laws or rules that could impact your mental health treatment.
