If you’re feeling stuck in your emetophobia recovery, it doesn’t mean anything dramatic. It simply shows there are still a few ingredients in your mental health that need tuning. That’s normal. You’re not broken and you haven’t failed. It just means your mind needs more of the right input, consistency, and intention to finish the job.

Even when you’re feeling a bit better, that’s actually the moment to lean in. This is where you put your foot down and really commit to your Thrive work and the way you’re managing your thinking. A lot of people get themselves to about seventy or eighty percent. They start to feel more in control, more capable, more themselves again. Then they ease off. That’s where progress stalls.

Think of it like taking a course of antibiotics. You don’t stop halfway through just because you feel a little better. You keep going so the entire bug is wiped out. Your mindset works the same way. You need the full course. You need the completion. When you give yourself that level of follow-through, you don’t just feel better. You genuinely transform.

When the holidays get loud with opinions, politics, and everyone’s thoughts about how you should live your life, remember this. You don’t have to absorb any of it. You’ve spent time building your strength, your self-esteem, and your emotional mastery. You get to protect that. You get to choose what enters your inner world.

You can be present, kind, and engaged without taking on anyone else’s mood or mindset. Their reactions belong to them. Your Thriveyness belongs to you.

Give yourself permission to keep your focus on how you want to think, feel, and show up. That’s real control. That’s real power. And that’s how you protect your mental health through the holiday chaos.

I once promised myself that if I ever found a real way out of emetophobia, I would spend my life helping others do the same. That promise became my mission. Now I watch people reclaim their confidence, rebuild their thinking, and step back into lives that feel free, steady and joyful. Nothing compares to seeing someone realise they are stronger than the fear that has been holding them back for years. Sometimes our last sessions even have some happy tears!

It is easy to understand why people think that overcoming this type of phobia would be a simple as exposure, you know, like having children, or in my case, a stepchild who’s sick very often? Well, observational evidence and research shows that this is not the case at all and in fact, Emetophobia tends to get worse when a person has children or children in the home. If you don’t change the component parts of your thinking and psyche and still continue to expose yourself to the same fear or circumstance then you’re actually just reinforcing the original way you viewed it and creating more limiting beliefs about it.
