Emotions are not meant to be held onto. They are meant to move through us. They are meant to teach us something about ourselves.
Get angry, ask why did that trigger me, why did what happened make me angry and run through my body with vengeance?
When feeling joy and happiness, take note of what sparked that emotion, and invite more of that in your life!
Either way, holding on to those emotions, letting them fester or hoping for more, this is where we start to hold stress in the body. This is what can make us sick, tired, and show up in many physical ways in our body.
Holding onto them create stories in our minds and blind us from seeing life as it truly is. They are meant to move through us so that we can live in the present moment, fully and automatically; not stuck in the past, or in the future by believing if something were different life would be better.
Feel them, learn from them, let them go and live in this moment gratefully.
How do you do this?
* Acknowledge the emotion: Name what you are feeling and accept it without judgment.
* Explore its origin: Reflect on what triggered the reaction and what personal values or beliefs it touches.
* Body scan: Observe where in your body the emotion manifests, whether as tightness, warmth, or tension.
* Release: Use breathwork, movement, journaling, or speaking to express and let go of the emotion.
* Gratitude and joy reinforcement: Notice positive emotions and intentionally invite more experiences that bring similar feelings into your life
