During Women’s History Month, let us spotlight an important book: a diary of a midwife named Martha Ballard.
She not only had an active role in medicine and midwifery during her life in the 1700s, but also carefully documented numerous important events from that time and place. This book is interesting while serving as a rare first account by a woman. If you are interested in life in America during that time, history, medicine and midwifery, enjoy reading this book!

A Review:
“This is the most amazing book. It will make you realize that the history you learned in school was very different than what was really going on.
It will open your eyes to the everyday hardships of Augusta Maine in the late 1700. It was a wonder that not only did people survive, but that this midwife had the same infant survival rate that we have now. I highly recommend this book.”
