Many people come to therapy feeling discouraged.
They have talked about their experiences.
They understand what happened.
They know the patterns.
And yet the anxiety, anger, numbness, or emotional shutdown is still there.
That is not a personal failure.
Trauma does not live only in thoughts or words.
It lives in the nervous system.
When the body stays stuck in survival mode, insight alone is not enough to create real change.
At The Well Counseling & Consultation, I work from a trauma informed lens that focuses on both the brain and the body.
I primarily use Brainspotting alongside Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients process what their system has been holding onto, not just talk about it.
This approach can be especially helpful for veterans, first responders, and adults who have spent years pushing through stress, responsibility, or high pressure roles.
It is also effective for people who feel emotionally stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or exhausted despite having tried therapy before.
Healing does not mean reliving everything or forcing yourself to talk when you are not ready.
It means creating safety, slowing the nervous system, and allowing your brain to do what it was designed to do when given the right support.
If this resonates with you, you are not alone.
And there are options beyond simply coping.
