Visit Carson City Visit Carson City is the trusted source for visitors traveling to Nevada's Capital City. Carson City is redefining what a Western capital city can be.

Rich in history, this is a community with a charm showcased by four museums and historic sites all within a walk or a drive of each other. The tree-lined west side and the turn-of-the-century homes along the Blue Line Trail tell the stories of past residents, some who contributed greatly to American history. A newly remodeled, pedestrian-and-bike-friendly downtown is a venue for events year round and plays host to a number of unique and award-winning restaurants and shops. Carson City has a vast trail system that connects parks and open spaces, showcases two waterfalls and a river canyon. It links to all the other communities in Northern Nevada, including the historic mining town of Virginia City and the iconic Lake Tahoe and world-famous Tahoe Rim Trail. Proud of its developing arts and entertainment scene, Carson City has more than a dozen art galleries, three theaters and performance halls, multiple public murals and sculptures. It also serves as host to many unique cultural events, such as the Stewart Indian School Father’s Day Pow Wow and the Nevada Day Celebration. ⏳ Artists! In case you missed it....

Railroads once stitched this region together. Now, artists are invited to help tell those stories.

Visit Carson City is seeking artists and artist teams to create Interpretive Railroad Spike Sculptures for the Dust & Wonder Trail, a cultural corridor connecting Carson City, Carson Valley, Silver City, Gold Hill, and Virginia City.

These sculptural spikes will serve as public art and wayfinding, each paired with words and stories that honor the people, cultures, and history behind the rails.

If your work is rooted in place, history, and meaning, this is your moment. Click below for more information.

Coin Press No. 1 is a truly unique piece of Nevada history. Manufactured by Morgan & Orr and powered by steam, this press was used at the Carson City Mint in the late 1800s to transform silver from Nevada’s Comstock Lode into U.S. coins that circulated nationwide. Unlike hand-hammered coins, which could take minutes to produce a single coin, this steam-powered press could strike a coin in seconds and produce thousands in a day revolutionizing coin production. What makes Coin Press No. 1 especially rare is that it is the only coin press in the world still located in its original mint building and one that still operates today, preserved at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City as a powerful reminder of how Nevada history was pressed into metal. Follow along for more Nevada history and come see Coin Press No. 1 in action on Saturdays at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City.
