Recovery isn’t just about breaking a habit.
It’s about letting God heal the places that hurt so badly we tried to numb them.

There were days I thought I was too far gone.
Too broken. Too ashamed. Too stuck.

But God doesn’t run from broken people.
He draws near to them.

He met me in the pit.
He sat with me in the mess.
And little by little, He began to rebuild what I thought was ruined.

Recovery is humbling.
It’s slow.
It’s daily surrender.

But healing happens when we place our weakness in His hands.

If you’re walking this road, don’t give up.
God is not finished with you.
The same hands that were pierced for you are the hands restoring you.

One day at a time.
One prayer at a time.
One step of obedience at a time.

He heals. He restores. He redeems.

Recovery is not loud.
It’s not always dramatic.
Sometimes it’s just choosing obedience in the quiet.

It’s waking up and deciding — again — that you will not go back.
It’s praying when your flesh wants to run.
It’s surrendering when your pride wants control.

And I am proud of every single step.

Not because I did it in my own strength,
but because Christ in me is stronger than what tried to break me.

The world celebrates big milestones.
Heaven celebrates faithfulness.

Every tear cried at the feet of Jesus.
Every boundary set.
Every “no” to the old life.
Every “yes” to healing.

This is sanctification.
This is grace.
This is Jesus restoring what sin tried to steal.

If you’re in recovery, be proud of your progress.
Not in arrogance — but in gratitude.

Because the same God who pulled you out of the pit
is the God who is teaching you how to walk in freedom.

“One step at a time” is still forward.
And forward with Christ is victory.

Recovery has taught me that trust isn’t built in big promises — it’s built in small, consistent actions.

In addiction, trust gets broken. Sometimes I broke it. Sometimes it was broken around me. Either way, rebuilding it takes humility, time, and a lot of grace.

Recovery has also changed the way I see friendships.

I used to bond over chaos.
Now I bond over growth.

I used to look for people who would enable me.
Now I look for people who will pray for me, correct me, and tell me the truth in love.

Not everyone can go where God is taking you. And that’s okay.

Healthy friendships in recovery look like:
• Accountability without shame
• Honesty without cruelty
• Support without enabling
• Love without conditions

Trust takes time to rebuild — with others and even with yourself. But every sober day, every kept promise, every honest conversation is another brick laid.

If you’re in recovery and rebuilding your circle, don’t rush it. Ask God for discernment. The right people will value your healing, not compete with it.

Recovery doesn’t just give you your life back.
It gives you the chance to build it differently this time.

And that includes who you walk it with.

Recovery isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about not quitting.
Some days I feel motivated.
Some days I feel tired, tempted, or overwhelmed.
But I’ve learned something powerful:
Motivation fades. Discipline builds.
Recovery is choosing healing when comfort would be easier.
It’s choosing prayer when my thoughts feel loud.
It’s choosing growth when the old version of me feels familiar.
And the truth?
The old me might be comfortable… but she’s not called.
Every time we say no to old patterns,
we’re building strength.
We’re breaking generational cycles.
We’re proving that our past does not get the final word.
Feelings change.
Cravings pass.
But purpose remains.
Even on the days you don’t feel inspired — obedience still counts.
One prayer.
One meeting.
One honest conversation.
One day at a time.
If you’re in recovery — in any area of your life — I’m proud of you for not quitting.

Holding yourself accountable in recovery is one of the bravest things you will ever do.

Recovery isn’t just about putting down the substance or breaking the habit. It’s about picking up responsibility.

It’s waking up and saying:
“I did this.”
“I chose that.”
“I can choose differently today.”

Accountability isn’t shame.
It isn’t self-hatred.
It isn’t beating yourself up for who you used to be.

It’s honesty.

It’s looking in the mirror and refusing to blame:
• your past
• your trauma
• other people
• your circumstances

Yes, those things matter. Yes, they shaped you.
But they don’t get to control you anymore.

Accountability sounds like:
“I was wrong.”
“I hurt people.”
“I need to make this right.”
“I need help.”

And here’s the powerful part — when you own your part, you take your power back.

In recovery, excuses keep us stuck.
Ownership sets us free.

Growth begins the moment we stop defending our dysfunction.

You are not your mistakes.
But you are responsible for your healing.

And that kind of responsibility?
That’s strength.
That’s maturity.
That’s real recovery.

Like Psalms 40:2 says, “He lifted me out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock.” He didn’t just pull us out — He cleaned us up, steadied our steps, and gave us solid ground to stand on.

The pit was not the end of our story. It was the place where we learned that His hand reaches deeper than our lowest moment.

If He pulled us out once, He can do it again. And if you’re still in the pit — hold on. The same God who rescued me is reaching for you too.
