The solstice has such deep meaning for me. The further I've delved into my practice this year, the more reverence and reflection I feel for the changing of the seasons.
At the winter solstice, I stand in reverie with the quiet heart of the year, thinking back on the lessons I needed to learn moving forward. This is the longest night, the deep breath before the light begins its careful return. In that, i honor the stillness—not as emptiness, but as a sacred fullness—where darkness is not an ending, but the soil beneath my feet where I can plant intention. The solstice reminds me that rest is valuable and necessary and that there is wisdom in listening to my inner voice to understand what can be possible.
I have not always had an easy history with this season. These days have held grief, fatigue, and the weight of survival. Yet the solstice offers me something gentler than expectation: permission to pause. It invites me to tend my own flame with patience, to move slowly without apology, and to care for myself in the ways that are quiet, deliberate, and sustaining. In honoring the dark, I learn how to be kind to myself within it.
This year, especially, the solstice feels like a threshold. I offer respect to the changes reshaping my life—some chosen, some necessary, all transformative. I do not rush to define what comes next. I simply witness what has ended, bless what remains, and make space for what is becoming. As the light begins its gradual return, I trust that so will I, changed, steadier, and more true.
