NORTH CAROLINA FAMILIES NEED YOUR HELP.

Legislators left the Capitol this week without finalizing a state budget. That unfinished business led to a planned 3%+ reduction for Medicaid providers across the state.

But here is the crisis: NC Medicaid slashed outpatient specialized therapy rates by 8% instead of the planned 3%. This impacts speech, physical, and occupational therapists across the state - the professionals helping our children learn to speak, move, and thrive.

At this time, providers have NO timeline for a fix. DHHS has not even acknowledged that this was done in error. ALL Medicaid providers - from hospitals, nursing homes, pediatricians, and mental health services - were impacted by varying degrees of cuts yesterday.

Our kids can't wait. Legislators must return to Raleigh and vote to fund the Medicaid rebase to reverse these cuts and protect access to care.

This month, Therapy Tree Services is celebrating its 7th anniversary, and what a journey it has been!

We started in 2018 with a simple mission: to make high-quality, bilingual speech therapy more accessible to families across the Triangle. Since then, we have evolved from providing only in-home visits to establishing a thriving clinic. We have launched our specialized dyslexia program and built a dedicated team of 20 professionals who serve more than 300 children every week. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every family, therapist, administrator, and supporter who has been part of our story. You have helped us build something meaningful, and we are incredibly proud of where we have been and where we are headed next.

We’re pleased to welcome our newest therapist, Jessi, to the Therapy Tree Services team!

A 2018 graduate of East Carolina University, Jessi brings seven years of pediatric experience. She’s worked in a variety of settings and is passionate about designing individualized, functional sessions that support meaningful progress for children.

Jessi values collaboration with caregivers and is excited to be working with families in the Raleigh area. We are excited to have her on board!

We’re thrilled to kick off the next round of our series: “The Faces of TTS”! This is a great opportunity for us to shine a spotlight on our amazing team members, who are the heartbeat of Therapy Tree Services. Each feature will celebrate one of the incredible individuals who play such a massive role in our success and make a positive difference every single day. We can’t wait to share their inspiring stories with you!

Meet Yizteimar, affectionately known as Yitzi! Hailing from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, Yitzi's life has been quite an adventure. With a father in the military, her family moved around a lot, taking her to Florida, Texas, Kentucky, and even Germany! But at heart, she feels most at home in Puerto Rico and Orlando. Since relocating to North Carolina at the start of 2025, she has embraced the opportunity to explore her new surroundings.

Yitzi’s passion for speech-language pathology ignited early on when she witnessed the impact it had on her brother's life. This experience, paired with her time volunteering with a special education program in high school, fueled her desire to pursue a career as an SLP. Though she has loved working with individuals of all ages, her heart truly lies in literacy interventions and pediatrics.

As a proud Orlando native, Yitzi has a special fondness for Universal Studios and Walt Disney World, where she spent her weekends exploring all the magic the parks have to offer. But she also knows how to unwind—whether it's snuggling with her adorable Schnauzer, Kipp, or diving into a binge-worthy Netflix series. And here’s a fun tidbit—Yitzi's unique name, Yizteimar, was specially crafted by her parents! They took her mother’s name, Mietzy, flipped it, added an “I” and “ar,” and voilà—Yizteimar was born!

Currently, Yitzi is an essential part of the dyslexia team at our Cary clinic, where she works with children of all ages facing writing and reading challenges. With her passion for empowering both English and Spanish-speaking children, she helps them build the confidence they need to excel!

When I opened Therapy Tree Services, I knew I wanted to build a team that would embrace the wonderful, diverse world of autism and that believed in celebrating autistic individuals just as they are! I am proud to say that our practice is all about affirming and honoring the unique strengths and insights that those with Autism contribute to our lives.
Everyone at Therapy Tree Services is truly honored to be here for autistic children and families across the Triangle, recognizing that autism is a natural part of human diversity that deserves respect and understanding. It’s not something that needs fixing or fear, and it is worth celebrating!
During Autism Acceptance Month, it’s disheartening to see negative messages that can spread fear. We encourage everyone to challenge stigma and misinformation and to choose a path of compassion, curiosity, and inclusion instead.
