Good morning and welcome to the mat!

It’s Mindset Monday! Let’s go!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and was able to enjoy time with family and friends.

Some of you may have even overindulged! That’s okay too! Some of you may feel some guilt or anxiety over what you ate this weekend. That’s not okay!

Guilting yourself into what ever super diet or magic potion the retail machine rolls out this season won’t really do anything for you either. Sure you may lose a couple lbs only to find you gain it back right before summer vacation. Oh oh!

Yeah none of those secret diet plans or just do this one thing are gonna do anything other than take your well earned money.

If you want to get healthy and enjoy the summer then just do that!

Eat a few more salads and a few less burgers and fries, or whatever you go to food is.

Turn off the device and get outside! Go for a walk. Go hiking or running. Try out a yoga class.

If you want to get healthy it’s pretty simple. Do healthy things. Eat healthier and exercise more!

Alright we have Pull on the mat again this morning. Back and biceps! Let’s get these guns pumped!

Good morning and welcome to the mat!

It’s Thankful Thursday

Sticking w/ gut health today I’m thankful for the vast variety of healthy food available to us. I’ve been in places where fruit is not readily available. Most of us are extremely fortunate that we live in a place where a wide variety of healthy food is available.

I think it’s something we take for granted. It’s obvious actually. Here in the US we have an obesity problem that’s out of control. Especially w/ our kids.

It doesn’t have to be an issue in your home. This week when you do your shopping buy some fruit that you’ve never had before. Make it a family event. Buy a couple things and experiment. Maybe download a recipe that uses veggies you’re not familiar with.

I don’t know about you but I put this body through some work! I’m very grateful to have so many healthy foods to fuel and repair it.

Alright we have Push on the mat this morning. This is going to be a chest and tricep strength builder. Probably some push ups involved.
I hope so anyway!

Good morning, and welcome to the mat
It’s Wellness Wednesday

Staying on gut health this week.

Coming out of COVID we have wasted no time in getting busy!
On one hand this is great. People are getting out interacting. Local and family owned businesses are making a comeback. Restaurants and fast food places are busier than ever.

So what does that have to do with gut health?

Stress! That’s right the more stress we take on whether we are aware of it or not the more likely our gut microbiome is likely to become unbalanced. An unbalanced microbiome or unhealthy gut causes inflammation which can cause head aches, depression, and other mental health issues.

So instead of grabbing for that candy bar when you feel yourself getting hangry. Maybe grab some fruit, or veggies. A healthy smoothie is a great alternative. You’ll feel better and your body will thank you for it!

Alright we have Leg day on the mat this morning. Low impact but still challenging!

It’s Mindset Monday!
Let’s go!

This week we’re jumping into our new program that’s all about a healthy gut.

A lot of times we underestimate the importance of stomache health. This is evident by the mass variety of junk food available at the almost every cash register line we travel through.

In reality our gut health can be a key reason we face certain challenges in not only our physical fitness but also our mental fitness.

Harvard has a readily available study named the ‘The Gut-Brain Connection’

An unhealthy gut can cause unhealthy activity in the brain and an unhealthy brain can cause unhealthy activity in the gut.

You could be eating a foods or foods, even a relatively healthy foods that do not agree w/ your gut which can lead to head aches, nausea, and can amplify things like fear, anxiety, and depression.

A simple way to find out if you’re eating something that might not be beneficial is to do a food journal for a month or so. Obviously the longer you do it the more thorough the results. Just write down what you eat all day. Include everything! Even what and when you drink. Then write down how you feel after and between meals.

Soon enough you’ll have a road map of what foods work for you and what foods work against you.

Alright we have Pull on the mat this morning. This is going to be a back and bicep eccentric strength training session led by Autumn Calabrese. It’s low impact but I have no doubt it will be just challenging enough.

Thankful Thursday!

I’m very thankful this morning! 54 and a day!

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes!

They really mean a lot! I’ll be honest I should have prepared earlier in the week but I didn’t expect to be out so late last night. That sounds so funny. I was home by 10!

I usually go to be at 9 though so I was going to bed when I should have been hitting that rem!

I’m just going to jump into my workout this morning!

BODI Burn w/ Autumn Calabrese. I didn’t eat the cake or the ice cream but I still use a good cardio workout this morning!

Good morning and Welcome to the Mat
It’s Transformation Tuesday!

Let’s go!

So I had to take a little social media break but we’re back and it’s a good day for it!
Today’s a special day! Today we celebrate the person responsible for all of this! I wouldn’t be the person I am without this person! I wouldn’t even be here! That’s right we’re talking about my Mom!

My mom, we’ll if you’ve ever met her…she’s something else. She’s a bit eccentric! Okay more than a bit but she’s earned it!

I don’t think I know anyone at her age or maybe any age with the energy and resilience she has.

She’s a great grandmother to 2 and a grandmother to over 20 people ranging from 3 to 34. She raised 9 of us and is a God Mother to… we’ll honestly I don’t even know how many.

My mom has always made time to be an effective person in the community. She’s done hours of charity work. She’s taking on challenges that she didn’t have to but did just so she could enrich other peoples life! She’s helped many people turn their life around.

She’s worked w/ Special Olympics for over 30 years and has been a part of many lives.

Truly an inspiration and a role model!

This mornings workout is dedicated to you mom!

Won’t you join me in wishing my mom the happiest of birthdays today! Happy Birthday Mom! Love you! Thank you for all of it! !

Alright we have FLEXIBILITi w/ Amoila Cesar on the Mat this morning. Kind of a yoga mobility hybrid. Gonna loosen it all up this morning!

Good morning and welcome to the mat!

It’s manic Monday! Just kidding you know what day it is! That’s rights it’s Mindset Monday. Time to get your mind right!

I was out doing my errands yesterday and I began to notice how fast we became busy again. Like super busy!

It’s not surprising. We had a year stolen from us. Maybe longer for some. It’s almost like we’re trying to make up for lost time.

Understandable but some good things happened during the lockdown. I know more than a few parents who have told me that during lockdown they met their kids for the first time in years. They connected in new ways and their relationship became stronger.

My point is sometimes it’s better to slow down to get more done. It’s more about getting the important things done and enjoying the process! Even if it’s just grocery shopping.

There’s a concept in entrepreneurial and leadership building circles called slow down to speed up. Basically you give yourself a small interrupt every so often so that you don’t over focus on one thing and lose sight of the 99 other things you need to accomplish before lunch!

It’s a good practice for anyone!

Slow down and enjoy what you are doing!

You’re always going to have a list, you’ll always have something to worry about!

Don’t forget to take time for what really matters!

How are you this morning!

It’s Thankful Thursday!
So much to be thankful for!

I’m thankful for taking that rest day yesterday!
I feel much better.

What are you thankful for today?

Let’s start with you woke up this morning!
You probably woke up in a warm bed with blankets. That bed is probably in a home that you get to enjoy your life in!
You may have family, a friend or two, living in the house with you. You may have a car in front of that house that you go places in.
You probably have a job. Maybe your a stay at home parent! That’s a tough job but super rewarding!

What about that beautiful body you live in!
That’s something to be thankful for! Those beautiful eyes that see all the wonder around you! How about those arms to hold your loved ones!

Yep you don’t have to look far or think to hard to find a whole lot to be thankful for!

Maybe take a minute and just say thank you.

Maybe say a prayer for the people of Ukraine!
That should help put things in perspective!

Alright we have Yoga Flow w/ Bee Bosnak on the mat this morning! Now that’s something to be thankful for!

Good morning!

Taking a rest day!

Sometimes you have to just stop and let your mind and body recover.

Doesn’t mean I won’t do some stretching and walking today. It means I didn’t get up at holy crap it’s not even today yet, and get my day started. I slept in til 4:30

Got up, prayed, meditated, did some stretching exercises,took a shower, ate and headed off to the office.

Sometimes you just have to give yourself a break! I know I do!

So this this morning I’m grateful for my beautiful, intelligent, kind, strong, healthy daughter who has brought more joy to my life than I can express.

Not only that but without my daughter there wouldn’t be a Grandpa Style Wellness!

How about those legs! They sure do help you get around!
