🌾 Community Win: Filling the Gap Together
With the announcement that SNAP benefits will be paused for the foreseeable future, many Oklahoma families are facing an immediate and heartbreaking food gap. Local food pantries — including our friends at Mission on Main Street — are already seeing an increase in need, and with limited distribution days each month, timing becomes everything.
At Farm Hippie, most of what we have left at the end of each day is fresh and perishable — produce, baked goods, and other items that simply can’t wait weeks for redistribution. So instead of letting good food go to waste, we’ve decided to do what small communities do best: take care of one another. 💛
Starting Friday, November 1st — the same day the SNAP benefit pause begins — we’re launching the Farm Hippie Take What You Need Pantry.
This will be a daily space where leftover produce and baked goods are available for anyone who needs them.
No forms. No questions. Just kindness and community.
🥕 How It Works:
At closing time, we’ll place any leftover fresh items in our pantry space for anyone to take.
If you’re able, you’re welcome to leave something behind — a can, a note, or a little love for the next neighbor.
Because that’s what community is: sharing what we have, when we have it.
Together, we’re keeping food out of the trash, keeping families fed, and keeping the spirit of Farm Hippie alive. 🌻
