Talk To Me Technologies

Talk To Me Technologies Speech-generating devices for children and adults, with the widest variety of access options.

Based in Cedar Falls, IA - Talk To Me Technologies opened its doors in 2006 by providing technology that allows those with disabilities to ‘speak’ in a synthesized voice when they tap symbols or type on an on-screen keyboard. The company has also been a national leader in providing eye-gaze technology, which allows those with limited physical
control to speak and control their home electronics (lights, TV, phone and more) by selecting on-screen options with their eyes). Connecting through school districts, medical clinics, veteran care facilities and individual family requests, Talk To Me Technologies’ team of speech-language pathologists and AAC Consultants work with each individual’s team to assess their communication and physical needs before pairing clients with their own personalized system. The company also
helps assess alternate methods of access and offers training
to help clients begin speaking with their new voice in their
day-to-day life. Talk To Me Technologies regularly provides in-services and training at health care facilities and schools throughout the country. Talk To Me Technologies complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or s*x.

Meet Chelsea - a writer, artist and advocate.

Chelsea uses Text Talker in Grid for day-to-day communication and creative writing. She’s a published poet, founder of The AAC Four Seasons Book Club, ISAAC Canada board member, and host of the podcast 'The Whiskey and Tea on AAC.'

She’s also exploring Brain Computer Interface (BCI) with Grid, becoming the first successful BCI user (who is typically a two-switch communicator) to create a sentence on Text Talker using thought alone.

More recently, she’s been using our AI-powered Fix tool to support spelling and grammar.

We’re so grateful to Chelsea for sharing her journey. Read her full story and learn more about Fix on the Smartbox blog: https://thinksmartbox.com/news/meet-chelsea/

Building on last year’s momentum, we’re continuing the tradition of honoring Black History Month through our AAC reading communication boards. This year’s series kicks off with a newly redesigned board inspired by “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats, the American classic that helped pave the way for more inclusive children’s literature. Featuring thoughtful representation, this series highlights Black characters while giving AAC users a powerful way to read along.

Don has been part of the TTMT family since he received his Grid Pad 13 Vida last fall. Recently, he shared something special with his team at work: his experience finding his voice again.

In his story, he talks about the moment he heard his own voice through his Eleven Labs recording. He said it brought back familiarity, recognition and a sense of self he thought he had lost. Friends and family were not just hearing words. They were hearing him.
