2023 to 2026.
I got this fiddle leaf in 2023. I loved the big, glossy leaves. She felt established. Full. Impressive.
Then last summer I went on vacation, forgot to water and by December I had to cut her all the way down to a stump.
It felt dramatic and little heartbreaking.
But here’s what I’m remembering:
Growth doesn’t happen in comfort.
It happens after the cut.
After the loss.
After the part that feels like “I ruined everything.”
You’re allowed to start fresh too.
Even if it looks drastic.
Even if it feels scary.

Hi, I realized it’s been a minute… so hello, this is me 👋
I’m Hailey, a therapist in Chapel Hill, NC.
I specialize in neurodivergence, I’m EMDR certified, and I’m currently working on my family therapy certification (always learning over here).
My work is trauma-informed and attachment-focused, and I care deeply about creating therapy spaces that feel safe, collaborative, and non-shaming. I don’t believe people need to be fixed to heal.
Outside the therapy room, I have 150+ houseplants (yes, really), two cats who run the household, and I’m usually watching football, professional golf, or listening to Taylor Swift depending on the season and my nervous system.
I offer in-person sessions in Chapel Hill and virtual therapy for folks across NC and SC.
Glad you’re here 🤍

Boundaries are hard.
But so is resentment, burnout, and replaying the same conversation in your head at 2am.
Sometimes asking what happens if I don’t set this brings surprising clarity.

Ahh… such a simple statement that can feel so hard to follow. Why is it so tricky?
A few weeks ago, a friend of mine had her first baby. I was so excited to visit and meet the little one. We had a tentative plan and then they had a rough night and needed to shift things around (as newborns tend to do!). So I went about my day: errands, chores, a little reset.
Later that afternoon, she texted that the evening would work after all. My first instinct was “Yes!!”
…but something in me paused.
I was tired. I had a busy upcoming week. And I realized what I really needed was to finish up my to-dos and have a quiet evening at home. So I listened to that nudge. I said I’d love to come another day and we rescheduled. And guess what? It was still wonderful.
It’s okay to say no.
Even to people you care deeply about.
Especially when your body is asking you for rest.
I share this to normalize how messy and human this can be .. and to offer you permission to pause, reflect, and ask yourself:
“What do I need right now?”
“What do I truly want?”
Your “no” protects the energy that makes your “yes” meaningful. 🤍

When I started my private practice, I was leaving a mental health agency that gave me five personal days a year. Fresh out of grad school, I was thrilled to have a job in the field but I didn’t fully understand the toll that limited rest would take.
Fast forward a few years to when I was starting my private practice in 2023 and a therapist friend asked me,
“How much vacation will you give yourself?”
I remember excitedly saying, “Two weeks!”
Oh, how things have changed…
This year, I’m taking three full weeks for the holidays.
My clients are prepared and supported, they know how to reach me if needed, and all the year-end paperwork and accounting is wrapped up with a bow.
I’m deeply aware of the privilege that comes with being able to take this time. I’m incredibly grateful.
And I hope you find space to take the time you need this year, too.
I can’t wait to return in the new year, rested, restored, and ready.
Until then… I’m officially out of the office until 1/7✌️

The holidays can pull us in a million directions. Does the to-do-list ever end?
As best you can and as compassionately as you can, spend time with yourself. Your body will thank you.
