The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are interested in health issues in underserved communities. SNPhA provides national opportunities including networking, professional development programs, scholarships (access to over $90,000 in scholarship moneys exclusively for SNPhA members) and leadership positions

AND a local connection:
- Meaningful service projects that are focused on providing healthcare and health education to the surrounding community
- Professional development programs in the local chapter
- A chance to socialize and have fun with other students who share the same passion for service and professionalism

This month UNC SNPhA’s Fighting Diabetes initiative discussed a common medication used in the treatment of diabetes called Metformin or Riomet. We discussed some common side effects, as well as a rare one to try to address some of the misinformation that might be present about this medication!

•CAPS x SNPhA HPV Vaccine Awareness•

Come by the front of Davis Library to spin the wheel and learn about the HPV vaccine. We want to empower UNC students to sign up for an HPV vaccine, so come ask a pharmacy student your questions! Our poster will have information on the HPV vaccine and a QR code to the Campus Health website, where individuals can make a vaccine appointment.

Nominations for executive board positions for the 2026-2027 academic year are open! Nominations for the following positions will be accepted until January 31st at 5 PM. Students currently completing their PY3 year are not eligible for nomination. If you would like to nominate multiple members for a position, you can submit the form more than once. Self nominations are accepted!

This month, UNC SNPhA members created an educational video about the importance of vitamins and supplements among CKD patients! They discussed which vitamins are important to supplement in this population as well as which minerals to avoid. Watch until the end of the video to learn about some more additional resources for patient’s reference!

Test your knowledge with trivia, pick up free resources, and get connected with evidence-based tools to quit smoking for good. This event brings together multiple perspectives to show how smoking impacts whole-body health. Come get some prizes and snacks!
