Excellent work!!

In late April, a call came in for a man whose heart had stopped multiple times due to a fatal arrhythmia. Within minutes, UH AirMed was airborne and ready to bridge the gap between emergency care and the advanced cardiac team waiting at UH Cleveland Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.

Through coordinated teamwork between UH Portage ER, UH Cleveland Medical Center, and UH AirMed, Jeff received the specialized cardiac stabilization and intervention he needed to survive.

Flight Nurse Taylor C. and Flight Nurse Daniel H. were reunited with their patient Jeff at the Annual Heart Heroes dinner, which celebrates survivors of cardiac events and their lifesaving care teams.

Months later, he is not only back on his feet but back on his bike, logging over 3,000 miles since his recovery with his wife Laura! 🚲

Jeff’s story is a powerful reminder that every link in the chain of survival matters. 🔗🫀🚁

Do you know the signs of a stroke? BE FAST.

This is an excellent acronym from CCF. The first two letters, B and E, are less well known.

I teach these symptoms because they are not covered in any of the current first aid stroke course videos. In June, I had a first aid student tear up when I described these symptoms. Through his tears, he told me that his father passed away after three days with new-onset vision changes and balance problems, due to a massive stroke.

Please take the time to read this acronym and memorize it today, you could save a life.
