Climate Smart Grant Awarded; Producer Grant Applications Due November 11th

ACRE/Clemson Agribusiness Applications Due Soon



A partnership between SCSU and Clemson University was recently awarded a grant of $70 million under the USDA Climate Smart initiative. The grant will focus on peanuts, beef cattle and forest products. SCBFC is one of the 27 entities listed for this project. Details are still being determined by the SCSU and Clemson team - stay tuned for more information in the coming months. Producer Grant Applications Due November 11th

Southern SARE recently announced applications for its producer grant program. Individual farmers can apply for up to $15,000 under the program. As noted by Southern SARE, "The goal of the Producer Grant Program is simple: Allow farmers to test, on a small scale, an idea, practice or technology to a production or marketing problem, evaluate whether the results sustainably address the problem, and share how those efforts can benefit other farmers." BrightMa Farms Host H**p AgTech Summit in Partnership with Puregene AG and Leading Industry, Government, and Educational Institutions

H**p has unlimited potential and has been used for centuries as a versatile material, and its popularity is only growing. H**p can be used to make a wide variety of products, from textiles to automotive parts. H**p is also a sustainable crop that can be grown with minimal inputs. As a result, h**p has the potential to help farmers diversify their crops and earn higher income. BrightMa Farms is committed to helping black farmers succeed in the h**p industry. We have partnered with Purgene AG to expand the BrightMa genetic breeding blueprint for h**p production that is economically viable for small-large scale farmers. We hosted our AgTech retreat for industry, government, and educational partners to discuss our circular economy blueprint for h**p and the economic development train it can become in creating jobs and spur economic growth in underrepresented under served communities. Our goal is to shine a light on the Pure Bright future of h**p and help our farmer network develop the capacity to bring these sustainable solutions to scale.
