Here’s a perfect example of OT and Speech worlds colliding for a holistic approach to speech motor planning! This session focused on building the foundation for early speech through regulation, awareness, and feedback 💬
We incorporated movement to support regulation and increase overall vocal output because when a child is more regulated, we typically see more attempts to communicate.
We also used vibration to increase awareness of the lips and provide tactile feedback. Helping her feel where her lips are (and what they’re doing) is a key step in developing purposeful movement.
The goal: increase verbalizations and support lip movement for early bilabial sounds m, b, p.
This isn’t random! Every strategy is chosen to support motor planning, awareness, and meaningful communication.
