CAMC Medicine

Committed to a mission of education and training health care leaders.

The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine provides continuing medical education, outreach education and research support to physicians and allied medical professionals, as well as patient and consumer health service projects in West Virginia and the region. The Institute also operates a school of nurse anesthesia affiliated with Marshall University and 14 graduate medical education residency/fellowship programs sponsored by CAMC and in affiliation with West Virginia University - Charleston Division and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, CAMC sponsors pharmacy residency programs and a clinical psychology internship.

The Vandalia Health CAMC Pediatrics residents recently volunteered with the Salvation Army to prepare Angel Tree boxes for local families. This year, the Salvation Army is supporting 450 families in Kanawha County. We are incredibly proud of our residents for demonstrating compassion, service and a true commitment to our community.

On Monday, Graduate Medical Education hosted interns and first-year fellows at the quarterly Quality Improvement and Patient Safety meeting, which focused on documentation requirements, just culture principles and the application of the just culture algorithm to real-world cases.

Yesterday, the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry department hosted a multidisciplinary simulated patient event at the CAMC Center for Learning and Research. The experience allowed participants to practice safely and compassionately supporting patients experiencing behavioral health crises through realistic, team-based scenarios.
