I’M BACK and... SURPRISE, I had a baby girl and she’s 11 weeks old! Meet Lillian Jeanne Stewart, she was born July 6th (four days before her due date) at 7 lbs 5.5 oz, 21 in., and she’s definitely a future runner in the making!
I took the past almost year off from the blog and social media to really just focus on my pregnancy and revel in each moment, but now that Lily is almost 3 months old and I officially had my first postpartum run today, I am getting back in the saddle and will be posting my postpartum running journey regularly here on IG. Over the next few weeks I will also be posting on the blog all about my pregnancy and postpartum experiences. So, if you’re interested in pregnancy, postpartum fitness, and new motherhood definitely join me on this wild ride!
In other news, today’s run was definitely tough, but I’m glad to report that it wasn’t terrible... and I didn’t leak! 🥳 (sorry, if that’s TMI, but it was my number one concern going into this run) I have been consistently walking at least an hour 4-5 days a week for the past 10 weeks and have been also incorporating core and pelvic floor exercises while playing with Lily on the floor and during her tummy time. I have resolved to start SLOW and that’s exactly what I did. I started out with a .5 mile walk for 10 mins, then ran a .5 mile at an 11:00+ min pace, then walked for .25 mile, ran another .5 mile, walked .25 mile, ran .5 mile, then ended with a .75 mile walk totaling 3.25 miles for 50 min. I am excited about the journey ahead, but I definitely felt like I had to learn how to run all over again, and I haven’t felt like that since I began running 9 years ago! My legs felt heavy and my joints were sore, and my abs still felt weak... BUT I know this is temporary and that in time, I will be back and stronger than ever!
If you’re a too, give me all of your postpartum running tips! I’m going to need them!!! 😆
