Getting Ingrown Hairs can be so frustrating anywhere on the body, So in this video, I’m showing you 3 Things you can do to prevent this from happening when Tweezing!

🌟Step 1: Clean the Area
Sounds like a no brainer, but we touch our skin with our hands hundreds of times a day, and may not be thinking of the bacteria on our hands transferring to the skin. Bacteria in the skin blocks follicles, and blocked follicles create Ingrown Hairs! 😩 So if you can wash with soap and water, that’s ideal, if you aren’t able to because you felt it on the way to get lunch in the car (it happens!) keeping some alcohol wipes to clean the area before and after will help! In this video, I have witch hazel which also acts as an antiseptic to remove dirt and bacteria.
🌟 Step 2: Get Your hand position right
The art of tweezing is in the hand position. If there’s too much flexibility in the skin (it’s not pulled tightly or “taut”) you can end up cutting the hair in half which acts like a rubber band and snaps back into the follicle. Snapped follicle hair won’t have a blunt end, it’ll curl ➰, and curled hair will block the follicle, and grow out Ingrown! 😬 Avoid this by pulling the skin really tight between two fingers, and only tweeze where the skin is being held tight, move around accordingly.
🌟 Step 3: Pull from the Hair at the Root, Not the end
If you pull the hair from the end, this part can also cause the hair to snap, and the shorter hair now snaps back into the follicle, and boom, back to scenario in Step 2! 🫣 If you tweeze from the root, the hair will be removed completely, and usually it hurts way less as the hair will slide right out!
* Extra Pro tip: for really coarse hair, dab a little light oil like jojoba to the skin after cleaning and before tweezing, this softens the hair root for an even easier removal! 👌🏾
Always use good quality tweezers and make sure they’re clean too!! 👌🏾
