This is true but not collimating is a bad habit to get in to.

Not collimating when X-raying the patient causes radiation exposure to other parts of the body that does not need to be radiated.

I would tell new Rad Techs not to get stuck working in an outpatient setting such as urgent cares or primary care offices. Depending on your career path, outpatient settings limit your availability to get your experience in other modalities.
