Skating to Freedom

As I watched the figure skating in the Olympics this past week, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the joy and energy of Alysa Liu both on and off the ice. Her radiant, free, glowing spirit could be felt right through the TV.

Her story (minus the Olympic gold!) deeply resonated with my own journey. She spent so much of her childhood practicing, competing, and striving to become the next big star. But at just 16, she chose something different. She stepped away from skating to live more fully to get her driver’s license, go on vacation, attend college, and simply enjoy life with friends. She chose to honor her true spirit.

She chose presence.
She chose freedom.
She chose herself.

She allowed herself to discover who she really was at her core. And after a few years, she felt called back to the ice. This time not to prove anything or meet expectations, but simply for the love of skating. She returned with pure joy, authenticity, and freedom and was seen as she skated with a smile.

Her story mirrors my own path. For years, I worked and overworked and overachieved trying to be seen, trying to prove my worth, sacrificing my true self and ignoring my own needs and desires.
Today, I am forever grateful for my healing journey. A journey of self-discovery, regaining my voice, reclaiming my worth, embracing wholeness, and allowing self-love and authenticity to guide my life.
As Alysa skated, tears welled up in my eyes. Tears of joy for her, but also tears of gratitude for the joy and freedom I now experience in my own life. Hard moments still come, but at the end of the day, I am living from my inner truth… and it feels amazing.

If you feel called to heal, reconnect with your true self, and step into emotional freedom, I’d love to support you on your journey.

Do you ever find yourself wondering…
Why aren’t things working out?
Who am I anymore?
What do I even like?

Maybe you feel lost or stuck.
Caught in comparison or self-judgment.
Feeling empty… like something is missing.

Maybe you’re moving through a breakup, a job change, becoming an empty nester, or simply spending so much of your emotional energy worrying or taking care of everyone else that there’s little left for you.

If any of this resonates, it may be time to come back to you.

Back to your roots — your strengths, your inner wisdom, your superpowers.
A space to uncover (or rediscover) your values and beliefs.
To open yourself to new possibilities and listen to what your soul is truly craving.
To receive affirmations that reflect and celebrate who you are.

Rooted & Rising is an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect — and then gently take a glimpse into your future and allow yourself to rise in the way you were always meant to.

Join us for Rooted & Rising, a one-of-a-kind breathwork and embodiment workshop.

So many of us live on autopilot.

Our minds pull us into automatic negative thoughts… comparison… old stories… familiar but unhealthy patterns.
We stay busy, moving from one thing to the next, rarely slowing down long enough to truly listen.
What if you gave yourself the space to pause?
What if you took time to tap into your real truth — the authentic, vulnerable truth at the core of who you are. The part of you that has been there all along… from your younger self to who you are today.
What is that true self craving?
What does it desire?
What is it ready to step into?
Rooted & Rising is an invitation to reconnect with that inner part of you.
Through breathwork, visualization, and embodied practices, you’ll be guided to:
🌳 connect with your roots — your strengths, values, and beliefs
🌳 explore your aspirations and what you’re calling into your life
🌳 receive affirmations that reflect your truth
🌳 gently release what’s been holding you back
🌳 integrate it all through sound healing and visual expression
This isn’t about fixing yourself.
It’s about remembering who you are.

Where are your New Year’s resolutions right now?
If you’re like most people, January began with the best intentions —
✨ work out more
✨ eat healthier
✨ be happier
✨ save money
✨ finally stick to new habits

And then February arrives… and many of us find ourselves right back in old patterns.

What if this year, instead of trying harder on the outside, you tried something different?

What if you went inward?

Instead of another resolution, what if you committed to reconnecting with your inner being, slowing down enough to listen, to become consciously aware of who you are at your core, and to remember what truly matters to you?

Rooted & Rising is a one-of-a-kind breathwork and embodiment workshop designed to support exactly that.

Through guided breathwork and visualization, you’ll explore:

🌳 how you are rooted in your strengths
🌳 what you truly value and believe
🌳 what your soul is craving and ready to call in this year
🌳 and how to receive the affirmations and support you deserve

We’ll also weave in visual expression, gentle somatic release, sound healing, and reflection — all in a supportive, grounded space.

If this feels like the kind of “reset” your body and heart have been asking for, you’re warmly invited.

No fixing. No forcing. Just an opportunity to root, release, and rise.

01/23/2026

For many years, I walked through life disconnected from myself.

I struggled to make decisions even small ones.
I didn’t know what I wanted, what I liked, or what felt true for me.

I found myself in an unhealthy relationship where, slowly and quietly, I lost my sense of self. There came a moment when I realized I didn’t recognize who I was anymore.

At the time, I didn’t have language for it.
Words like boundaries, codependence, people-pleasing weren’t part of my world yet.

The day I left that relationship was the day I saved my life.

I was tender. I cried often. I felt frozen, numb, and unsure how to find my way back.
But little by little, I began to soften, learn, and come home to myself.

I learned how to set gentle but clear boundaries.
How to listen inward and make choices that aligned with my true self.
How to release freeze and numbness and allow joy to return — slowly, safely.

I lived this journey. I survived it.
And it’s shaped the way I hold space for others today.

Rooted & Rising was created from this place — a space to reconnect with your inner strength, release what’s been weighing you down, and remember who you are beneath old patterns.

If this story speaks to you, you’re warmly welcome.
And if it’s not the right time, that’s okay too. Trust your own rhythm. 🌿

What brings me joy?

When I can fully surrender and allow my inner child to live without judgment, comparison, or rules about how I should be. Just free. Just present.

Tonight I was deep in my inner child flow, hanging with friends and neighbors, letting myself play. I let my inner child be first in line to see Santa and Mrs. Claus. I helped beat the kids at adults vs. kids laser tag. And the highlight was riding the mechanical bull, a long time dream.

My inner child is on cloud nine tonight.
And here’s the thing we don’t talk about enough: play isn’t just important for kids. It’s essential for adults too.
Research shows that play:
• Reduces stress and lowers cortisol
• Boosts creativity and problem-solving
• Strengthens relationships and connection
• Regulates the nervous system
• Helps heal old wounds by creating new, joyful experiences

Play reminds our bodies and brains that we are safe. That joy is allowed. That life doesn’t have to be so heavy all the time.
Tonight I chose to embrace my inner child without judgment, without comparison, without shrinking. And wow… she is alive.
When was the last time you let yourself play?

Roller Derby Reflections

This weekend I had the opportunity to support the Charlotte Roller Derby team and wow, what an experience!

As a little girl, I loved to roller skate and used to watch roller derby on TV, completely mesmerized. It’s been decades since I’ve seen a match, and I’d never been to one in person until now.

I’ll admit, I had no idea what the rules were but just watching was fascinating. Each team has one jammer who tries to push through a crowd of defenders linking arms, forming a wall, and throwing in a few body and butt checks. Sometimes the jammer would get knocked out of bounds and have to start again. Sometimes their teammates would help them break through. And sometimes, after lots of pushing and persistence, they’d finally make it past the wall.

What stood out to me wasn’t just the athleticism; it was the determination.

No matter how many times they fell, they got back up.
No matter how strong the wall, they kept pushing.
And when they needed it, they allowed others to help them through.

It reminded me so much of life and healing.
We can let the walls around us stop us, or we can keep pushing toward our goals.
We can isolate, or we can allow others to support us.
We can stay down, or we can get back up again.

Healing is like that too — we do the work, take a break, and then keep going.
And at the end, just like the roller derby teams high-fiving each other and the fans, we can celebrate how far we’ve come.

So here’s your reminder:
Keep getting back up.
Accept help when you need it.
Rest when you must.

And don’t forget to high-five yourself for how far you’ve already come.

Both teams left the arena smiling — a beautiful reminder that it’s not always about winning, but about showing up, trying again, and doing it with heart.

Peace Found Through Pressure Washing

This weekend I got some secondhand patio furniture and decided to clean it up today. I’d never used a pressure washer before, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.

When I started I noticed I was feeling heavy. Something was sitting on my heart. I didn’t expect that pressure washing would help me release what was weighing me down.

As the machine hummed, I began to find peace in the rhythm with each swipe washing away more than just dirt. It felt like the weight inside me was slowly being rinsed clean too.
Eventually, I started “writing” words with the washer on the concrete:

compassion, love, grace, freedom, peace, courage, power, safety, connection, authenticity, and more

Each word felt like a part of me.

Funny thing though after two hours of working with this old pressure washer that kept soaking me (because of a hole in the hose!), I went to put it away and discovered that the new, bigger, stronger one was sitting right there in the shed the whole time.
I laughed. I could have finished sooner, with better results…
Or did I get exactly what I needed in that moment?

I choose the latter.

Sometimes the healing comes not from the perfect tool, but from showing up, doing the work, and letting the process wash away what no longer needs to stick.

🔥 This Is What Healing Feels Like
I recently heard the song “World on Fire” by For King & Country, and something in me lit up. 🔥
As I listened I could feel the energy moving through me that deep sensation of being alive, free, and connected. I can't help but sing it our loud and dance.
Healing has brought me back home to myself to my true, authentic soul.
This is what healing feels like:
Freedom inside
Connection to my soul
Alignment with truth and purpose
When we heal, we don’t just survive — we ignite.
We set our world on fire with love, light, and authenticity.
Let your light burn. 🔥
What sets your world on fire?

Surrender
Lately I’ve been reflecting on what it really means to surrender.
For me surrender isn’t about giving up. It’s choosing to accept life as it is and trusting that what’s meant for me will always find its way.
Surrender doesn’t mean I sit back and do nothing. It means I stop resisting and start getting curious and ask, “Why is this happening for me?” instead of “Why is this happening to me?”
That shift opens the door to growth, wisdom, and peace reminding me that even the hardest moments carry purpose and opportunity.
When we surrender we create space for God, the universe, and our intuition to guide us.
What does surrender look like for you right now?

Blessings in Grief

One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday morning is go downtown and interact with the homeless while passing out clothes. Usually, I fill the back of my car with community donations, but this time was different.

Instead of loading donated clothes, I was loading my dad’s clothes after his passing. As I carried bag after bag to the car, emotions bubbled up. I wasn’t sure if I’d even be able to hand them out, but I told myself I would try.

When we arrived and began unloading, I quickly noticed the anticipation on the faces of those waiting. That familiar energy pulled me back into my usual rhythm of joking, chatting, and helping people find just the right sizes.

There was a tender moment when I came across one of Dad’s Michigan shirts. Tears welled up, and I quietly set it aside to keep. But soon I was back to engaging with the people in front of me.
One man I met was Gerald. He carefully looked through almost every piece of clothing, determined to find the perfect ones. He told me he had just gotten a haircut, wanted to look good, and smiling confessed he was a bachelor in search of his forever companion. Helping him pick out outfits for this new chapter of his life was pure joy.

Another man, James, shared his story. Recently, he woke up one morning to find that everything in his bag of clothes had been taken. In that moment, he prayed and asked God to provide. Later, at the free clothing store, he waited his turn only to watch person after person walk out with clothes in his size. By the time it was his turn, nothing was left. Yet James remained faithful, praying again: “I know You will provide for me. I will be patient.”
This Saturday, his prayer was answered. When James walked up, he was met with piles of clothing in his exact size. His once empty bag was full again. His gratitude overflowed, a reminder of God’s faithfulness.

My dad, Paul Miller, was a man of deep faith, even nicknamed “Monk” in his 20s. Today, in my grief, I was blessed to see his faith and kindness live on one shirt, one smile, one answered prayer at a time.

So, if you’re ever downtown and see a man on the street, know that he may be walking around in a piece of Paul Miller with him, and with God’s provision. ❤️

Wow… my heart is still so full from Sunday night’s Awaken Your Heart Breathwork Workshop under the full moon.
Together we created safety in our bodies, released stuck emotions, connected to our inner children with love and compassion, and opened ourselves to both giving and receiving love—from others and from within.
The most powerful testimonial of the night was:
“Today I felt love for myself for the first time in a long time.”
That’s the kind of transformation I get to witness when people show up with open hearts. I feel so lucky to walk alongside others as they discover freedom, connection, and authenticity.
When people ask me what I do… this is it. I hold space, guide, and witness people remembering who they truly are.
Thank you to everyone who joined and co-hosted with me. What a blessing to share this work
