~ TESTIMONY TIME ~

“I first heard about Hands and Feet Birth Services through a local page before I was even pregnant. I knew I wanted to have a doula for my first birth and felt connected to the company for having Christian values and their love and support for how and where women want to birth their babies. I had a call with Kayla Johnson and immediately knew she was who I needed to have with me on this journey. Her passion was so evident over the phone and something about her spirit put me at ease. Kayla quickly became much more than just someone I chose to do a service. I truly don’t even see it that way. I 100% believe God ordained and orchestrated every piece of our story from the very beginning. Kayla was beyond intentional about meeting with me to establish a connection and friendship. She always checked in before and after doctor appointments and gave me so much encouragement, prayer, and advice throughout my pregnancy. She always made me feel so understood and cared for. During the birth of my daughter, Kayla was more than I can even explain, my words will always fall short in expressing how amazing it was to have her present with my husband and I as we welcomed our daughter into the world. She quite literally stepped in in ways I didn’t even know I needed, almost like she knew me better than I knew myself. She was the biggest support physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, not only to me but to my husband, as well. I fully surrendered and trusted her because God had placed her there with me for a reason and I could not be more grateful that He did. Her knowledge and care truly go beyond just doula services and support, although she was truly exceptional at those things and made a huge difference in how my birth played out in such a positive way. Kayla is one of the kindest most intentional and amazing women I have ever had the privilege of knowing and now I get to call friend. I will forever be grateful for her!” -Kelsey

When i met this mama for coffee, i instantly knew we were meant to be apart of each others stories. She became a friend in just a few short hours we spent talking, then we spontaneously went shopping & honestly the rest of our friendship has just been so effortlessly.

I am always in awe of God how he puts people in our lives exactly when we need them, it was destiny.

The birth of their beautiful babygirl was a lot of surrendering to the Lord. The birth of their daughter was profound + magical. A first time mama, having a completely natural birth in a little over 12 hours from start to finish.. absolutely powerful!

(Isaiah 61:3), “but you can't receive the beauty if you don't give God your ashes. Give God your hurts and pains, and then open up wide so that you can receive the beauty He has in store for you”

When she was in transition, a worship song was playing & all i can remember is the lyrics “beauty from ashes” & i spoke that over her right then.. i still for the life of me can not find that song.. but i did fine Bible verse Isaiah 61:3

The verse could not have been more perfect..

Her strength was impeccable & so was her husbands..

We were laboring in the bathroom & her husband was sitting just outside the bathroom door, i look over at him & he’s teary eyed with his head bowed worshiping over his beautiful wife & babygirl.. chills.

The atmosphere was unbelievably calm & filled with so much of the Lords love.

An unbreakable bond between a doula & a mama… one that last forever.

As always, this honor will never be lost on me. Being invited into a birth space, is one I’ll never take for granted.

I am always so emotional on the way to a birth & afterwards.. Gods unfailing love is one that I’ll never take for granted.

A beautiful mama, a beautiful birth, a beautiful babygirl. 🌷

Happy 5th heavenly birthday to our first baby 🕊️✨
the one who’s heart first beat inside my womb

February 2nd haunts me, grief comes in waves

Today is my why, my reason.

My why for becoming a birth doula, pursing pregnancy loss/infertility doula, for not staying silent when others tried to silence me, for standing up for women who suffer loss & infertility alone, for educating, for being the friend to others i had + needed in the moments & months afterwards. After 2 years of infertility & fertility treatment, as i delivered at 10.5 weeks gestation alone in my bathtub, I’ll never forget the way life looked early on, your face & little eyes. I wish i could go back 5years & tell me all the things i know now. & how our story, lead me to help many mamas have their rainbow babies & redemption births.
You’ll always be my, why. 🤍

what does a postpartum visit look like?

it can look many different ways

i always visit with a warm meal typically breakfast & then a meal they can put in the oven for later + a good basket full of things that a newly postpartum mama may need

sometimes these postpartum visits are holding a sweet baby while mama & daddy eat a warm meal, because we know you probably have had to reheat your meals since baby
feeding baby a bottle so mama can take a shower & feel human again
picking up things around the house & folding some laundry

sometimes it’s just holding space for a new mama & letting her know she’s not alone

it’s being part of a mamas village

it’s being present for those vulnerable moments

postpartum visits are for holding space & being exactly what you need, however that may look 🫶🏻
