Today’s workout was a perfectly timed reminder of the fact that I can do more than I think I’m capable of! I wanted to quit after the first round but am glad that I kept moving and finished.

I’m proud of my effort today and wanted to post this as a bit of encouragement for anyone who may be in a self doubt funk- we’re all capable of more than we think- during our workouts and in everyday life. Sometimes it just takes getting out of our heads and putting one foot in front of the other to accomplish the things we set out to do.

Keep this in mind as you start a new week tomorrow and go out and kick some a$$ !!!

What’s the ®? A simple way to measure quality in the diet. Eat 800 grams (by weight) of fruits and vegetables per day. No other foods are eliminated in the challenge. Eat the macros you want. “I don’t have time to workout today.” “I’m too sore.” “I can’t do that (when looking at the workout for today).” “I don’t feel like it.“

I come up with the same excuses everyone else does. I just do it anyway. Why? Because I said I would. I keep promises that I make to others and have been working hard to keep promises I make to myself. It’s been a game changer when it comes to being consistent with my workouts.

It’s the beginning of a new week. Plan to do something positive for your health this week. If you’ve been struggling, start with something small and achievable. Keep the promise you make to yourself and . You’ve got this!

This was a great workout courtesy of CrossFit Linchpin that reminded me of a few things. 1- Burpees suck 2- Sometimes things are as hard as they seem 🤣

However, it was another one of those days where my workout also reminded me of important things about life:

🔥 It feels great to keep commitments that I make to myself: as
much as I was dreading it, I had committed to doing this
workout. I almost talked myself out of it and did something
that looked like more fun, but am glad I didn't. It felt way
better knowing that I kept the promise I'd made to myself
rather than mentally negotiating my way out of a
commitment, which I've definitely been guilty of in the past.

🔥I can do hard, uncomfortable things that I'd rather avoid: My
workouts actually remind me of this often. Finishing workouts
like this helps motivate me to do things that I'd rather avoid
because they're outside of my comfort zone. I'm able to
remind myself that I can do hard things, even when I dread
feeling uncomfortable.

People often talk about the mental health benefits of exercise, thought I'd share how that plays out in my life!

Looking to add some extra protein to your day? Try my favorite high protein snack!

3/4 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
3/4 Cup Frozen Berries (can use fresh, juice from frozen ones adds flavor)
Slivered Almonds (Optional)
Honey (Optional)

It's a tasty way to add about 30g of protein to your day!

Tired of throwing away vegetables you bought at the store with full intention of eating healthier this week? Feel like you don’t have time to chop fresh vegetables?

Try buying frozen ones instead. Somewhere along the line, frozen vegetables have gotten the reputation of being not as healthy as fresh vegetables. In fact, fruits and vegetables are frozen at their peak ripeness. This is when they have the most nutrients, making them as healthy, if not healthier than fresh fruits and vegetables.

Using frozen vegetables can save you money and save time on meal prep. The healthiest options are ones with no added ingredients or sauces. I prefer to steam mine, but they can be cooked however you like. Just add your favorite spices and enjoy!

In honor of Stress Awareness Month, today’s is about Box Breathing- my favorite breathing strategy to settle my mind. It’s easy enough for everyone to be able to do and is so effective that it’s used by Navy Seals.

1. Breath in while counting to four in your head.
2. Hold your breath for four seconds
3. Exhale for four seconds
4. Hold your breath again for four seconds
5. Repeat three to four times.
