A Hanukkah Story for Our Community 🕯️

Long ago, in a time of fear and uncertainty, a small community faced overwhelming odds. Resources were scarce. Spirits were worn thin. And yet, they chose to light a candle anyway.

They didn’t have enough oil to last. But they had enough hope to begin.

That’s the heart of Hanukkah, a story that feels especially relevant today. In a world where many are carrying anxiety, grief, burnout, and isolation. Choosing to seek support can feel like lighting a tiny flame in a very dark room.

As a therapist I see this often.

🕯️A parent showing up despite exhaustion
🕯️A high school student finding words for feelings they’ve kept hidden
🕯️A fellow colleague reaching out instead of struggling alone

Like the Hanukkah candles, healing doesn’t happen all at once. It grows, one small act, one conversation, one moment of connection at a time. And when we light these flames together, the light travels farther than we expect.

This Hanukkah, I honor resilience. I honor our community. And I honor the courage it takes to ask for help.

May this season remind us that even in difficult times, light is still possible and it multiplies when we share it.🕯️✨

If you or someone you love is struggling, please know that reaching out is a sign of strength. Help is here, and healing is possible.

✨🕯️ First Night of Hanukkah 🕯️✨

Tonight we light the first candle, honoring the Hanukkah story, a reminder that even a small light can push back a great deal of darkness.

At SCAA Community Counseling Center, I see this truth every day. Moments of hope, connection, and care, no matter how small, can make a powerful difference in our mental health and well-being.

As the lights grow brighter over the next eight nights, may we remember that we don’t have to carry darkness alone. Community, support, and compassion help us find our way forward.

Wishing warmth, peace, and resilience to all who celebrate. 💙

🙏 Happy Hanukkah 🕯️

✨ Mental Health Monday x Cheer Practice! ✨

📣💙💜🐾 Today’s practice wasn’t just about sharp motions and clean routines, it was about checking in, breathing deep, and building each other up 💪🥨

📣 We as coaches brought a little taste of Philly to practice and not just the soft pretzels! 😉 We reminded the team of that true Philly spirit: tough, resilient, loud when it counts, and always showing up for your team 🥰

Mental Health Monday reminder:

💙 Take breaks when you need them
💜 Lean on your squad, on and off the mat
🐾 Celebrate small wins
📣 Be as kind to yourself as you are to your teammates

‼️Philly mindset + cheer mindset = Unstoppable. 🫶✨

Let’s carry that energy into the rest of the week! 🐾💙💜📣

In our busy lives, it’s easy to overlook the little moments that fill our hearts. Encouraging gratitude in children and families not only strengthens relationships, it builds resilience, empathy, and emotional well-being.

Today, take a moment to pause and ask:

What made you smile? Who helped you today? What are you thankful for?

Small reflections can create big connections.

November 25th is The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is observed every year on November 25th. It is a global day designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about all forms of violence that women and girls face, including domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, trafficking, and femicide. The day calls attention to how widespread gender-based violence is, encourages governments and communities to take action, and honors survivors and advocates working toward safety and justice. It also marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a worldwide campaign focused on prevention, education, and human rights.

📌 Su***de Prevention Matters: QPR Training for Our Cheerleaders

This week, our high school cheerleaders participated in QPR Su***de Prevention Training, a vital step in supporting one another and strengthening our community.

We were moved to take action after the heartbreaking loss of a local student-athlete whose life touched so many. While nothing can erase the pain of this loss, we can honor their memory by giving our students the knowledge and tools to recognize when someone may be struggling and how to get them the help they need.

QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade, Refer teaches young people how to:

📌 Recognize warning signs of emotional distress
📌 Start a supportive, nonjudgmental conversation
📌 Connect a peer with trusted adults and professional help

Our cheerleaders show spirit, leadership, and heart every day. Now, they’re also learning how to look out for their teammates and classmates in deeper, life-affirming ways.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out.
Help is available 24/7:

Together, we can create a school community where no one feels alone.

November 11 is Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a federal holiday dedicated to honoring all military veterans for their service to this country. It is observed each year on November 11 and recognizes the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of those who have served in the armed forces. The day is marked by ceremonies, parades, and moments of reflection to show gratitude for the contributions of veterans in protecting the nation’s freedoms. Unlike Memorial Day, which honors those who died in service, Veterans Day pays tribute to all who served, whether in times of war or peace.
