Adolescence is such a unique time for artistic athletes. Maybe you’ve decided to start pointe, you’re ready to increase your hours of classes or time in the cheer gym, or you are planning to start competing or join the company…

During adolescence you will experience changes in your strength and coordination as your body goes through growth spurts because the proportion of your trunk and limbs change.

This may contribute to changes in your flexibility, your alignment of your limbs when landing jumps, and overall motor control and balance. Due to the repetitive demand of dance and these changes, adolescents can be particularly susceptible to overuse injuries.

🌟But good news for you, researchers are studying how we can help artistic athletes! One study found that when young dancers worked with a physical therapist they were able to reduce their time missed from dance due to injuries. 🌟

As a dance medicine physical therapist, Dr. Goldstein specializes in working with the youth and adolescent artistic athletes. She will identify the reasons you are having pain or difficulty participating fully in dance and we will be your SOLUTION to return to dance stronger and better than before! 🩰🤸‍♂️
