*claimed* ✨WANT TO BECOME A BIRTH AND BEREAVEMENT DOULA?✨

I’m doing this in effort to raise funds, which will allow me to better serve local mothers experiencing loss.

The founder of SBD, Heidi, is allowing me to offer one seat in her training course to anyone of my choosing. It will only be $60 for tuition (as opposed to the $90 current sale price). The classes are all online and done at your own pace.

If you have ever considered being a birth and/or bereavement doula, this is a great opportunity. Comment below or message me if you are interested! I will only have one spot available, so don’t hesitate! 😃💜

Who was present for the birth of your baby??🤰🏻

You probably already know how I feel about EVIDENCE based practice. These numbers are from a study done in 2017 comparing the use of a doula-vs-not.👀

•25% decrease in the risk of Cesarean; the largest effect was seen with a doula (39% decrease)*
•8% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth; the largest effect was seen with a doula (15% increase)*
•10% decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief; the type of person providing continuous support did not make a difference
•Shorter labors by 41 minutes on average; there is no data on if the type of person providing continuous support makes a difference
•38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low five minute Apgar score; there is no data on if the type of person providing continuous support makes a difference
•31% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience; mothers’ risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience was reduced with continuous support provided by a doula or someone in their social network (family or friend), but not hospital staff

DILATION STATION! 💯

Aka the "Get it done position." 💪🏽 Most of my clients know that I love using the toilet for labor. It's the best way to release a pelvic floor and help a baby descend into the pelvis. The contractions are super intense on the potty, but that's because they are super productive! Trust me when I tell you, this is one of the all time best labor positions!

🚽you are naturally prone to relaxing your pelvic floor and perineum while sitting on the toilet.
🚽the bathroom is a place of privacy and solitude and you are used to relaxing in this room.
🚽you are using gravity
🚽you are opening your pelvis.
🚽you are allowing your baby lots of room to rotate and navigate the birth canal.
🚽you can also turn around and straddle the toilet with a pillow in front of you for comfort.

I call it the “dilation station” for a reason. I’ve encouraged many mommies to spend some time laboring on the toilet. It’s not uncommon for baby to come rather quickly after that 🤗

Now free to watch on Vimeo!! 🤗🤗

The Business of Being Born is a 2008 documentary film that explores the contemporary experience of childbirth in the United States. It compares various childbirth methods, including midwives, natural births, epidurals, and Cesarean sections. 🌟

It’s always such an honor to be invited into another woman’s birth space. ♥️✨

We are so thankful for doulas during this time. COVID-19 has presented many challenges and doulas have risen and have done all types of creative things to continue to support women. They provide a constant presence in the midst of daily...sometimes hourly change and challenge. They have helped us and our patients navigate birth in a global pandemic. They provide amazing support and energy to the birth room. Doulas, you are amazing and so essential to maternal health. We are honored to work side by side with you always...but especially right now. Thank you for all that you do!!

For anyone out there who has an angel baby. 💕 Still Birth Day does a heart release every year in honor of our little ones. If you want to be involved, drop your sweet baby’s name on the original post.

Let your beloved babies' names be handwritten onto teeny, degradable paper hearts embedded with floral seeds, that later can grow into flowers.

Free to have our babies' names held in this way, free for you to attend the Hearts Release every October if you're able.

Just comment below (follow original thread to this post by stillbirthday) with your babies' names to be included.

For all families, for our babies not alive.
