Here’s one for the dads that are dudes. We try not to be clueless but in many ways, no one is there to give us a clue. Here’s a few clues for dads need to know when breastfeeding gets difficult.

Case study on cording! This can happen post breast surgery but nerve entrapment from scar tissue can really happen almost anywhere. Let me know if you have questions.

I often get asked, “Is there anybody else who does what you do?” The answer is “Kinda-sorta, but also no.” All of us bodyworker types are quite different. We’ve all got our own thing. But the Barral Institute has taught me so much and I’m always ready to learn more. I love having an eternal student mindset. Learning from the one of the best and being in classes with a bunch of crazy manual therapists like myself is a humbling experience. It always makes my hands smarter.

Howdy folks! Before and After! Here’s a person with hip internal rotation issues and problems maintaining intra-abdominal pressure during movement.

If you look down and you’re duck footed, or externally rotated there’s a good chance you’re having a hard time engaging your core and hips. This can lead you down hard roads later in life—chronic hip and back pain, pelvic floor problems, breathing issues—this list goes on.

The solution is to correct the engagement in movement, but manual therapy can help you over the jump and headed in the right direction. After this session my client was engaging better on her own without prompting. That means that she is at rest in both of this images, only in the second image her body is engaging without her actively doing so.

Any questions?

Hi folks! Trying to restore your belly postpartum? Post-surgery? IAP is how you do it. IAP stand for Intra-abdominal pressure. That’s the pressure you can exert inward, against your abdominal contents. Your diaphragm and pelvic floor are integral parts of this process. Pregnancy, C-sections or any other abdominal surgery can really mess with how your body creates this pressure. This isn’t just for women. Men too.

There are a few simple things one can do to help regain IAP such as specific exercises, breathing techniques and targeted activation. BUT, all of those things are difficult to do unless your organs and specifically the parietal peritoneum aren’t mobilized and moving like they are supposed to. That’s one of things I do through visceral manipulation. The techniques are gentle and usually pain free. Let me know if you have any questions!

Howdy folks! Sometimes postpartum the belly button can shift slightly to one side, appearing off center. This can be for a number of reasons, but one of the most common is a one sided inactivation of a muscle called the transverse abdominis. The belly button will be shifted away from the side that isn’t activating line it’s supposed to. So, if the belly button is shifted to the left, it could be because the right side isn’t activating it enough to pull the belly button to the center. Other factors are important also, because if the TVA isn’t working like it should, chances are the external obliques are over activating. That’s one of the ways the body compensates if the abdomen isn’t holding compression like it should. This is after a 60 min session. Her TVA started activating and compressing on its own like it should drawing her abdomen and sides of belly inward. Can you see the change?

If you need help with something like this, hit me up. Or you can find a PT or practitioner in your area that can help!
