Why Foster Parenting?

Foster care provides a secure and supportive setting for children who cannot live with their biological parents. Throughout the child’s stay, licensed foster parents play a crucial role in helping the child or children navigate past trauma and behavioral health challenges to positively influence their lives. The objective is for every child to eventually return to their biological family having had a safe place to grow and make significant behavioral improvements.

Therapeutic Foster Care and Intensive Alternative Family Treatment offers each child a safe and nurturing environment in which the child’s needs can be assessed. During the child’s stay in therapeutic foster care, a licensed and fully trained foster parent has a positive influence on the child’s life by helping him or her deal with past traumas or behavioral health challenges.

The ultimate goal for therapeutic foster care is that each child return to the biological home after having made positive behavioral changes.

Support, Inc. was founded in 2001, after several years of planning and preparation, and began its operations in July 2002. Support, Inc.’s corporate office is located at 175 West Franklin Blvd. in Gastonia, NC. We currently contract with several MCOs in North Carolina. Our agency provides a continuum of services for children and adults.

The founding members founded the organization on the basic principle that MH/DD/SA services should be provided in a manner that promotes the respect and dignity of all served consumers.
