FM / CFS / ME = Staying Strong

FM / CFS / ME = Staying Strong Sharing, supporting, learning and staying strong while dealing with chronic conditions. I have 3, F

I am a 50+ single woman who was diagnosed with FM/CFS/ME in 2006. I am positive that I have had 1 or 2 or all 3 for several several years prior to my diagnosis. But since being diagnosed there has been several medical improvements towards these diseases, however, it still befuddles me on the why, who, what, when, where. I have learned many things, through trial and error, what works for me. I have found that one single, vital, necessary key is a supportive group of fellow FM/CFS/ME warriors that understands and "gets" exhaustion, pain, sleepiness, etc. I want this page to:
- share my journey past, present and future
- to hear your journey
- support one another in positive, caring and uplifting and humorous ways
- allow those that need help, to reach out and get the help. I am not a medical professional, I am a sufferer of these horrible diseases and have hit many brick walls, dealt with ignorant/rude people, and have pulled myself out of many internal conflicts and depression.

🔷Facts about ME/CFS🔷

The new global virus is leading to an astronomical increase in ME/CFS and/or long COVID patients. It is essential that we raise awareness to warn and help COVID patients understand how essential it is to rest and not overdo it. You really do not want ME/CFS.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) is a neurological disease with complex multi-system dysfunctions. Pathological dysregulation of the nervous, immune and endocrine systems, with impaired cellular energy metabolism and ion transport, as well as cardiovascular abnormalities are prominent features.

ME/CFS has more than 60 symptoms. Post-exertional malaise (PEM) is the hallmark symptom of ME/CFS. It refers to the worsening of symptoms following even minor physical, mental or emotional exertion, with symptoms typically worsening 12 to 72 hours after activity and lasting for days, weeks, months or even years.

Some basic facts about ME/CFS:
- There are an estimated 30 million patients globally.
- Less than 6% recover.
- An estimated 90% of patients are undiagnosed.
- ME is twice as common as MS.
- 75% of ME patients can't work.
- 25% of ME patients are housebound or bedridden.
