🔷Facts about ME/CFS🔷
The new global virus is leading to an astronomical increase in ME/CFS and/or long COVID patients. It is essential that we raise awareness to warn and help COVID patients understand how essential it is to rest and not overdo it. You really do not want ME/CFS.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) is a neurological disease with complex multi-system dysfunctions. Pathological dysregulation of the nervous, immune and endocrine systems, with impaired cellular energy metabolism and ion transport, as well as cardiovascular abnormalities are prominent features.
ME/CFS has more than 60 symptoms. Post-exertional malaise (PEM) is the hallmark symptom of ME/CFS. It refers to the worsening of symptoms following even minor physical, mental or emotional exertion, with symptoms typically worsening 12 to 72 hours after activity and lasting for days, weeks, months or even years.
Some basic facts about ME/CFS:
- There are an estimated 30 million patients globally.
- Less than 6% recover.
- An estimated 90% of patients are undiagnosed.
- ME is twice as common as MS.
- 75% of ME patients can't work.
- 25% of ME patients are housebound or bedridden.
