Each October, we ask our community to WEAR PINK in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month—and this year, our incredible Leadership Team at Atrium Health Cabarrus proudly joined together to show their support for our Breast Health Center.

We’re so thankful for a leadership team that champions the work we do here in Cabarrus County and stands beside our friends, families, and patients who face breast cancer every day.

Exciting news to share with Cabarrus College of Health Sciences!

Exciting News! We are pleased to announce that Diane M. Uzarski, DNP, MPH, RN, has been named the new President of Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, effective April 6, 2026. Dr. Uzarski brings nearly 40 years of distinguished leadership experience in health care, including major accomplishments in academic nursing, strategic planning, research administration, team science, and interprofessional education and practice.

In her new role, Dr. Uzarski will provide visionary and operational leadership for Cabarrus College’s strategic initiatives, with a focus on strengthening nursing and allied health education programs. Notably, once all approvals are finalized for the combination of Cabarrus College of Health Sciences with Carolinas College of Health Sciences, Dr. Uzarski will serve as the founding President of the new combined institution.

Dr. Uzarski’s impressive background includes serving as Founding Dean and Professor of Practice at Saint Anselm College Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences, where she developed and implemented the school’s vision, mission, strategic plan, and programmatic outcomes. She launched the school’s first graduate nursing program and oversaw multiple undergraduate healthcare majors. She also held executive roles at Duke University School of Nursing, leading strategic initiatives and mission-driven projects as Chief of Staff in the Dean’s Office.

Dr. Uzarski holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Iona College, a Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duke University. She is widely recognized as an industry expert, serving on the Catholic Medical Center/HCA Board of Trustees and previously chairing the Strategic Planning Committee for six years on the Duke Catholic Center Board of Advisors.

We are confident that her expertise and commitment will guide Cabarrus College of Health Sciences—and the future combined institution—toward continued excellence and innovation in healthcare education. Today, we pay tribute to the courageous men and women who have served our nation. At Atrium Health Cabarrus, we are proud to honor their service through the Veterans Recognition Program, launched in 2020.

We’re also pleased to announce that, for the fifth consecutive year, the program has received support from NASCAR Team Owner and Driver Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation. Since the partnership began, the Foundation has contributed over $300,000, including a $25,000 gift in October 2025, to help us recognize and celebrate veteran patients.

What began with ICU Nurse Carmen Frutig’s simple act of kindness—creating an “Honor Box” for a veteran patient—has grown into a hospital-wide initiative that has touched more than 6,000 veterans.

We are deeply thankful for our continued partnership with Brad Keselowski and the Checkered Flag Foundation, and for the opportunity to honor those who have selflessly served our country.

Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation recently awarded a new $25,000 grant, bringing the total support to more than $300,000 over five years for the hospital’s Veterans Recognition Program.

We are very excited to have Susanna Black joining our runway as co-host for a second year. From breaking news stories in the field to anchoring major newscasts, Susanna Black has built a career on her passion for storytelling. An award-winning reporter and anchor, she spent years covering North Carolina, most recently at WSOC in Charlotte. After a transition into corporate communications at Duke Energy, Susanna launched her own consulting firm, Susanna Black Media, where she helps business owners and nonprofits craft and share compelling narratives that leave a lasting impression. Born and raised in Concord, Susanna is proud to live in and give back to the community that shaped her. She serves on the boards of the Concord Police Foundation, the Cabarrus Arts Council, and the Bishop’s Advisory Council for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. A frequent emcee and keynote speaker, Susanna loves engaging audiences through her passion for storytelling and human connection. Susanna Black A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, Susanna is married to her high school sweetheart, Travis, and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Lyla (6) and Sophia (2). Outside of work, you’ll likely find her enjoying time with her family, cooking, gardening, reading, or out on a run.

Meet Hade Robinson, Jr., a celebrated figure returning as co-host for his 10th season of Foundation Fashion Night. Known as the “Carolina Style Guy,” Hade is a personal stylist, TV personality, and retail director based in Charlotte, NC, with 20 years at Nordstrom. He currently directs retail stores at Charlotte Douglas International Airport while working on his fashion line, “Hade.”

A frequent contributor to WCNC’s Charlotte Today and stylist for the Big 10 Network and FOX Sports, Hade has lectured at the Mint Museum of Art and hosted various fashion events. He has contributed to multiple magazines and was recognized by the Charlotte Observer and Uptown Magazine.

Previously involved with the Miss America Organization, Hade is a judge for both Miss America and Miss USA. He has also been honored in the hospitality industry and served on the Winthrop University Alumni Association's board. An alumnus of Winthrop University, Hade is now an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of South Carolina and a 2021 Fashion Icon nominee.
