What an honor and blessing to be called “mama” by this precious baby. Love you more than words and being your mom is the greatest thing I’ve ever been!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas! 💜 💐

One month with our buddy and finally getting around to sharing my birth story! It’s a very detailed and intimate story…I didn’t wanna leave anything out for my own memory and figured I would share in depth just in case anyone is out there thinking of having a home birth and wondering how it could be.
I’ve never pictured giving birth in a hospital and knew I wanted to at least attempt having our baby at home. I listened to and read SO many home birth stories while pregnant and it gave me a ton of hope that I’d be able to do it too, even as a first time mom.
I am so grateful to have had a low risk pregnancy that allowed for this and blessed that there were no complications during labor!
I had an amazing experience with my sweet and knowledgeable midwife and if you’re in the Fort Mill area looking to birth at home, I can’t recommend Damaris enough!
Swipe to read the story if you’re interested. I tried to keep the pictures PG-ish 😂 (I did not intend to birth completely in the n**e but ya know, I ended up being too busy for a bra 😅).

Our sweet baby BOY joined us earth side in his own time on July 13th at 2:33am in the comfort of our home. Coming in at 7lb 15oz and 21 inches, we are totally in love with our son, Calloway Banks 🩵💛🤍
Couldn’t have done it without our birth team — thank you and for the support during the hardest, best thing I’ve ever been privileged to do. Still reflecting and recovering but I will be sharing our birth story soon 🙏🏻 For now, we are soaking in all the newborn goodness and learning to do life with our little guy 🫶🏻 He’s the best thing ever 🥹

First SUPER (10k) in the books for me…and crushed his first EVER 👏🔥 Loved being with him this time and encouraging each other through the struggle, he’s a great mud mate!
And of course grateful for my team for introducing me to obstacle course racing and helping us train for this race!! 💚🖤
Still failed a few obstacles but I was thrilled to complete the monkey bars this go round 🙊 and get further along on the multi-rig! Gotta keep practicing for the twister (I was sooo close), olympus, ape hanger, and that dang spear throw.
Oh and special shout out to my goggles 🥽 that came in handy for the dunk wall 😂 Sadly I didn’t get any pics with them on but I was so glad to have no issues with my contact lenses this race, so that’s my tip to anyone who has struggled to see through mud or lost a contact in the dunking process! 🫣😉
Still debating on whether or not I take on a beast (21k) this year to complete a trifecta…time will tell! I will definitely be back for more races at some point, you can count on that! 💪🏻

It’s been a while since I did a OR just a single pic post. So hello, hi! 👋🏻 And yes it’s a selfie, thanks tripod/timer 🙈 I’m lucky my phone didn’t topple off the edge of this mountain bc the tripod was definitely tittering precariously on this slanted rock 😅
Hiking in the fall mountain air…feeds my soul so deep 🥰 Started the day with meditation and gonna end with a bath and an attempt to finish reading Body Keeps the Score (it’s been a slow, heavy read, yo! But I absolutely recommend, duh)
Y’all know I’m feeling
✨grateful, thankful, blessed✨ for this and time to recharge in nature! 🍃🍁🍂
What’d you do to take care of you this weekend?

Hit the books 📚
Yep, this is where I am right now. It’s been just over 6 weeks since I cut my finger and fainted and only a week since I’ve felt okay enough to start working out again. **See recent Instagram posts if you are curious about the injury and
My collarbone has been the biggest issue and at this point I’m pretty certain that I fractured it to some degree (there was swelling & a bump on it for weeks and now there’s a little indent there). The pain in my shoulder, back, and chest is slowly dissipating. My pinky still can’t bend at the top knuckle, which is crazy 👀
And it was the first Thanksgiving day in probably 15+ years that I didn’t work out. I had to confront a lot of fears around my weight and food...it really opened my eyes to how much work I STILL need to put in with disordered eating and obsessive exercising, even 5 years after being “recovered.”
I’m grateful for this experience though, for the perspective it brought me here at the end of this wild year. For the rest it forced upon me. That I can still move my body at all! 🙏
What’s a “bad” thing that happened to you this year that you’re actually really grateful for? (Surely we all have at least one!)

10,000 steps a day. Do you aim for this step count or above every day? ⠀
⠀
If you do, that’s awesome! HOWEVER, I’m just here to remind you that this number is absolutely not based in science. The idea of 10,000 steps a day was first used as a marketing tool by a Japanese pedometer company in 1965 w/ the slogan: “Let’s stroll for 10,000 steps a day.” ⠀
⠀
When I got my first Vivoactive the year after college, I made it my MISSION to get steps. I was usually hitting 15,000+ a day. (I’m naturally competitive, I was running regularly, a full-time nanny of 3, and the Garmin users I was competing against on the app kept me pushing every week, trying to win!) ⠀
⠀
The Apple Watch I was gifted a couple years later had a default goal of 10,000 steps a day. Seemed reasonable, and at this point I was living in Brooklyn and still walking around 15,000 steps or more a day, easily. I loved exploring NYC on foot and bike, as much as possible.⠀
⠀
All I’m gonna say…⠀
⠀
I’ve been known to go on late-night walks/runs or to walk up and down the stairs or around the house to get in more steps. I have certainly had a toxic relationship with my body, food, and exercise. I think activity trackers/step counters CAN perpetuate these unhealthy mindsets. I think having a strict 10,000 steps a day rule CAN be totally toxic, just like I think counting my calories every day is for me.⠀
⠀
I LOVE walking. I LOVE being alone. I LOVE people-watching. Walking is stress relief and a meditative, thought-provoking space for me. Even before I had a step counting gadget, I was walking a lot — in college, in high school, & as a kid with my parents.⠀
⠀
But nowadays, I don’t always get 10,000 steps. I will listen to my body when it needs to slow down. I know that some research has indicated that around 4,400 steps daily is all you need for positive effects…and that over 12,000 daily may actually be HARMFUL. Movement is stress on the body, no matter how gentle it is. Start small. If you barely walk a mile a day, try getting in an extra 5 minutes. If you walk a ton, I encourage you to evaluate that situation and make sure your intentions are truly healthy. Happy Monday! 💜

Haley is a human that helps humans have healthy habits -- we are what we repeatedly do!
Basically, our habits determine our outcomes. I’m here to help others learn how to become their best versions by teaching them how to: make goals and create lasting habits that enable them to move often and move well, eat nourishing foods, and use holistic health practices to ensure a long, healthy life.
As a certified personal trainer, I’ve worked face to face with clients at Equinox fitness club in Manhattan, NYC and with family, friends, and clients in NYC and NC since 2016.
Most recently, I’ve become a nutrition coach through Precision Nutrition. I am helping clients understand their nutrition, hormones, and how to support their goals while forming a sustainable, balanced lifestyle.
I travel to clients or have them come to me, as well as train and coach clients virtually via FaceTime, texting, Voxer, Marco Polo, or any client preferred online/phone platform.
I have 10+ years of experience in competitive swimming and running, Pre/Post Natal Certified, NASM CPT, Precision Nutrition Level 1, Kettlebell Athletics Level 1, Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
After over a decade of dealing with dangerous disordered eating patterns, I’ve nursed myself back to health with the power of education & nutrition! I love helping others heal their relationship with food, (especially) empowering women to eat more & lift heavy, and to help humans choose habits that best align with who they want to be.
