Sending our thoughts and prayers out to the family, friends and brothers and sisters that served with Mark Mayo, Master at Arms, United States Navy. End of Watch: Monday, March 24, 2014

Mayo, an enlisted 24-year-old military policeman, was killed Monday night when a civilian approaching a Navy destroyer at the Naval Station Norfolk took a weapon from a sailor who was standing watch and used it to shoot and kill Mayo, who was trying to help his comrade, Navy officials said Tuesday.

When we tragically lose a member of our brotherhood, regardless of the branch or era in which they served, a little of each of us goes with him. Fair winds and following seas, brother!

A military policeman who was shot to death by a civilian at a U.S. Navy base in Norfolk, Va., on Monday was a Williamsport High School graduate who always dreamed of doing police work, his family said Tuesday night.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased.
