Today we saw the Buddhist monks that are walking across America promoting peace... which opened the door for a really meaningful homeschool lesson and conversation with my 8-year-old.

We talked about how Buddhism is largely an effort-based religion/ belief system, seeking peace through outward practices, discipline, and personal striving. It was a perfect opportunity to explain how different belief systems answer the same deep human question: Where does peace come from?

As Christians, we believe peace isn’t something we have to chase or manufacture from the outside in. Our peace comes from God, who meets us where we are and transforms us from the inside out. We don’t strive for peace, we receive it through Christ and live from it.

What a gift to teach our children that true peace isn’t found in what we do, but in who He is and who we are in him.

I know it's only been one week... But I am really loving this slower paced chapter in our life.

For many years the girls have gone to school and I have gone to school and it has been a time of structure, assignments, and very fast paced.

Homeschooling is going to force. Made a sore down a little bit. Be more engaged. To be more intentional.
And honestly I'm all for it.

I'm looking forward to figuring out how to balance work, and school and a little bit of unschool.

I'm reading about homeschooling and listening to tens of podcasts.

And I'm learning that homeschool is as much about unschooling as it is schooling.

What a fun balance.

Generally, I'm excited about this next chapter and I am open to whatever it brings.
