When you are in the midst of difficult times, you focus all your energy on surviving.
Your goals take a back seat. And when you eventually overcome your challenges, you start feeling left behind in life.
You feel it's unfair that you had to hit pause on your goals and now you have to work extra hard to keep up.
Remember that even though that experience was unpleasant, you learned many valuable lessons and skills.
You are more resilient. You have become more self-aware.
You have learned what actually matters.
All of these skills will help you as you move through life and work on your dreams.
You're not behind in life. Everything is unfolding as it should.

Sometimes it may feel like your healing efforts are futile.
Thoughts like "Why haven't I gotten over it yet?” or "I'm irredeemable" can make you feel worse.
You have endured a lot of pain in your life. You must give yourself time to grieve.
Let yourself feel sadness. It's a necessary aspect of healing.
Accept your feelings for what they are at this moment.
The feelings of sadness sometimes linger longer than we'd like but that doesn't mean that they're going to last forever.

It's okay. You will find a way to move on.
There will be a time when your past no longer bothers you.
