On Monday our focus will be Triangle Pose!

We’ll start by opening the hamstrings and side body- maybe you’d like to try at home?

Start in an Easy Seat, side stretching to each side. (Maybe throw in a couple of easy twists?!)

Take a Staff pose with a gentle Forward Fold.

Come to Tabletop position, try Gate pose to each side, from there to a Downward Facing Dog to a nice Standing Forward Fold.

If you’re feeling it- try Triangle!

Ten minutes of stretching and focused breath can make a big difference in your day. It’s worth it!

Get ready to play!

G.I. Yo’s best friend shows us puppy pose!
The human version looks a bit different. 🙂 To try puppy, start in a tabletop position, keeping your hips up, bring your shoulders and head forward and down to or toward the ground. We will practice this pose as a yin posture- so if you would like, bring a block or pillow for your head/ upper body to sink into this pose!

This coming Mondays practice will end with a long rest pose with meditation. If you want to get cozy, bring a blanket, pillow or whatever you chose to help you to relax. (Not required). See you on Monday!

We will be focusing on the pose Up Dog next week, to counter all those Down Dogs we practiced on Monday! Great job everybody!

To prepare for Up Dog we will practice some heart and hip openers. Maybe you can try some at home, on your own this week! Try cobra or sphinx, some reclined twists, (focusing on opening the chest) or cat/cow. Aowoooooo!!!!! See you Monday!

This coming Mondays practice will focus on a favorite pose, Downward Facing Dog!

G. I. Yo has great form here- a flat back, weight evenly distributed; and notice Yo’s feet aren’t flat on the ground- they don’t need to be!

An important part of a pose focused practice session is warming up for the pose and cooling down from the pose. Don’t worry, we won’t do a whole hour of Down Dogs! 😆 You CAN prepare for our Monday practice by doing a few Down Dogs on your own- Hell Cat to Down Dog and back again would be a great little strengthener practice! It’s G.I. Yo! 😃

G.I. Yo knows strength of Body, Mind and Spirit are all important for a healthy you. In yoga, everyone is encouraged to practice at their own pace and level.

To prepare for our first class on Monday, January 12th, take a hint from Yo- find a spot to take an easy seat and take a few minutes to tune in- to you!

G.I. Yo is one tough cookie. Please find a safer, softer surface than the ice for your easy seat! 😉

Please keep an eye out for outdoor pop-up classes! All classes listed here are at the Trenary Community Building, and start at 6:30pm. Arrive a little early to set up your space and visit!

I said we would tentatively start back up on January 5th- but it’s not going to happen. 😞 I’ve got some stuff going on and need a little extra time. ❤️

I’m super excited for this series though, it’s been in the works for awhile! Look for updates next week!

Our last class of 2025 is tonight, it’s a deeply relaxing, beginner friendly practice. Hope to see you there!

We have one more class for our Fall series- tomorrow, Monday, December 15th. Class begins at 6:30pm. This is another YIN class, so if you like using props, like a blanket or block, bring them with you! (Not required though, you can practice without props as well.)

It’s been another great season of yoga here in Trenary! I am grateful for each and every one of you. If you have not attended yet, know that everyone is kind, and we have a lot of fun. It’s a special group of people, with room to grow.

Our Winter class schedule will be posted soon. This will be a strength series, with a few yin, or slower classes thrown in, as we all know that there is strength in stillness as well. Maintaining our strength will set us up, and take us right into Spring- mid March, which is right around the corner! Let’s start the Spring season strong!
