They hired strangers to care for Mary. Those strangers took advantage of her.

Then a friend of the family stepped in. Someone who already knew her, already loved her, already understood who she was before dementia tried to rewrite her story.

Mary’s brother sits down with that caregiver to tell you who Mary really is. A woman who gave everything to her community. A woman whose history deserves to be spoken out loud, not forgotten in a care plan.

This is what home care is supposed to look like. Not a stranger on an assignment. Someone who shows up because the relationship was already there.

If your family is navigating dementia care and you don’t know where to turn, or if you’ve already been burned by the wrong agency, this one is for you.

Watch. Then drop a heart in the comments if you know a Mary💜

Texas has multiple Medicaid waiver programs that pay family members to provide home care. But they’re not all equal.

CLASS and MDCP can have families waiting years.

STAR+PLUS Consumer Directed Services? Typically no waitlist. CDS lets the person receiving care choose their own caregiver, including a daughter, a son, a sibling.

If you’re a Dallas family that’s been told to “just wait”, you might be waiting in the wrong line.

This ⬆️ is more common than you think.

Family dynamics don’t pause because you became a caregiver. Sometimes they get louder.

👉🏽The sibling who lives three states away suddenly has thoughts about money
👉🏽The one who visits once a month has feelings about “fairness.”

Meanwhile, you’re the one showing up every single day. Getting paid as a family caregiver isn’t taking advantage of anyone. It’s being *compensated* for work. Hard, real, daily work 💪🏽

If your family has opinions, that’s their journey. Your journey is making sure you don’t burn out doing the most important job of your life.

Drop a 💯if you know exactly what this feels like ⬇️

We’re asking because we’re building something for caregivers that *actually* listens.

Not a brochure. Not a pamphlet that ends up in a junk drawer.

REAL resources built around what you *actually* need.

So, tell us…
👉🏽What do you wish you’d known?
👉🏽What did nobody warn you about?

53 million Americans are providing care for a loved one right now.

The economic value of their labor is $600 billion annually- more than Amazon’s total revenue. And they’re not getting a check. They’re not getting benefits. Most of them don’t even call themselves caregivers. They just call it Tuesday.

Someone in your life needs to know their work has a dollar value- even if nobody’s paying it yet.

You didn’t just “look this up.”
You were overwhelmed. Exhausted. Searching for a way to keep going…

If you’ve been caring for your mom, dad (or a loved one) without support, you’re not alone- and you may have options.

Yes, in Pennsylvania, you *can* get paid to care for a family member through Medicaid.

We broke everything down for you in a full blog post- how it works, who qualifies, and how to get started.

Gardening offers many health benefits for seniors- physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Here are some of them ⬇️

🧑🏻‍🌾Common tasks like weeding, raking, and digging provide low-impact aerobic exercise
🧑🏼‍🌾Navigating uneven soil and lifting tools helps improve stability and coordination (essential for fall prevention)
🧑‍🌾 Spending time in sunlight boosts natural Vitamin D, which is important for calcium absorption and preventing against osteoporosis (be sure to use sun protection!)
🧑🏽‍🌾Planning and problem solving allows for mental stimulation. Studies suggest regular gardening can lower the risk of dementia by keeping the brain active.
🧑🏾‍🌾Interacting with nature lowers cortisol levels, boosts serotonin and dopamine, reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
