Treasure Abilities is sad to announce the passing of Kayla Marie Green! Kayla was the Interim Executive Director of the Governors Council on Developmental Disabilities. Kayla and I basically started at the council together (When I did my internship) and she has remained a beacon of light in the field ever since. She will be deeply missed! Prayers for her friends and family!
Kayla Marie Green, 36, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2025, in Buffalo, Wyoming. She
was born on October 15, 1988, in Laramie, Wyoming, to Brian and Susan Green. Kayla had two
siblings, Stephanie and Beau, whom she adored.
She grew up in Lovell and attended school there, graduating in 2007. She then moved to Laramie
to attend the University of Wyoming, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2012.
After graduation, she moved to Cheyenne, where she lived until her passing.
Kayla worked for Carpet One for several years before finding her true passion with the State of
Wyoming, serving on the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities. Her work allowed
her to travel, meet new people, and form meaningful friendships.
Kayla was a loving and caring soul with a heart of gold that touched everyone she met. She went
out of her way to ensure those around her felt happy and valued. She loved spending time with
family in the mountains—camping, four-wheeling, and making memories. She also loved movies
(always having a reference ready for any situation, especially Austin Powers), music, and
celebrating her favorite holidays—Christmas and the Fourth of July. She especially loved setting
off fireworks, a passion she shared with her dad and brother—the louder, the better.
In May 2024, Kayla became an aunt to Beckham Richard, whom she loved deeply and
unconditionally.
Kayla is survived by her parents, Brian and Susan Green; her sister, Stephanie (Nate) of
Cheyenne, WY; her brother, Beau (Brooklynne) Green of Casper, WY; and her beloved nephew,
Beckham Green. She is also survived by her grandmother, Judy Green of Lovell, WY; Uncle
Steve Green of Lovell, WY; Uncle Stuart (Kathi) Nelson of Wheatland, WY; Uncle David
(Renee) Nelson of McKinney, TX; and Aunt Patricia Nelson of Oxford, MS.
She leaves behind many cousins she truly loved: Casey (Alex) Green; Chelsi, Kade and Trevin
Green; Katie (Nate) Huyser and their children, Findley and Hanna; Nicole Nelson; David
(Tawny) Nelson; Kylie (Chet) Selz and their daughter, Lily; Niki (Brandon) Karlis; Eric Nelson;
Shandi (Tino) Vasquez and their children, Bryson and Rylie; and Cassie (Eddie) Lallak and their
son, Ethan. She is also survived by extended family members Molly Rush, Grace Hazel, Taylor
Huckfeldt and many others who are considered family.
Kayla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Dorothy Nelson; her grandfather,
Leonard Green; her cousin, TJ Green; and her aunt, Deanna Walker.
Life can be unfair, and we may never understand why things happen the way they do. During
this difficult time, our family will continue to lean on one another and let Kayla’s light shine
through us all. We encourage everyone to hug their loved ones and never take a moment for
granted.
A viewing will be held at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell on Thursday, July 10, from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church in Lovell, WY. Kayla will be laid to rest beside her beloved grandparents at the
Lovell Cemetery.
