In honor of International Animal Right Day, we created a Cat’s Bill of Rights.
1. The Right to Safety: Every cat deserves a secure environment, free from harm, abuse, and neglect.
2. The Right to Proper Nutrition: Cats have the right to a balanced, biologically appropriate diet and clean water at all times.
3. The Right to Healthcare: Regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and prompt treatment for illness or injury are essential.
4. The Right to Comfort and Shelter: Cats should have a warm, clean, and comfortable space to rest and feel safe.
5. The Right to Freedom from Painful Practices: No cat should endure unnecessary suffering--declawing, abandonment, and cruelty must be prohibited.
6. The Right to Mental and Physical Enrichment: Cats need play, stimulation, and opportunities to express natural behaviors like scratching and climbing.
7. The Right to Respect and Companionship: Cats deserve kindness, patience, and loving interaction from humans.
8. The Right to Autonomy: Cats should have the freedom to choose when to interact and when to retreat to their own space.
9. The Right to Protection from Overbreeding: Spaying and neutering should be practiced to prevent overpopulation and suffering.
10. The Right to a Forever Home: Every cat deserves a stable, lifelong home where they are valued as family.
