Black On Black Therapy PLLC will now be expanding to offer psychological evaluations for immigration in Illinois and Florida.

can be a valuable addition to an immigration case by providing an in-depth mental health assessment.

Trauma is not always visible. Being able to prove that a person has experienced trauma or PTSD can often times be the deciding evidence on if that person is allowed to legally remain in the United States.

For example, the Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health reported in 2008 that asylum cases with mental health evaluations saw a 89% success rate versus the national average of success without an evaluation sitting at 37.5%.

I was interviewed by affordablecollegesonline.com about the movement to defund the police and add in more social workers. My take? Movements are provocative but let’s go deeper and take a look at the real world implications and what our communities of color can really benefit from.

I was interviewed for the piece “How Eurocentric Beauty Standards Harm Black Women” for magazine. I’m always so proud to be a thought leader in these spaces about black women and mental health. It’s a great article overall and really highlights the difficulties with black women and beauty standards. I didn’t plan for the anniversary date to be on Freedom Day but it’s fitting for the work I have dedicated my career to.
