In bittersweet news, I’ve decided to close the Comfort Cottage.

I created this page to help inspire others to take care of themselves, their spaces, and their plants. But in making a business out of it, I’ve actually deprived myself of exactly that. So, why not explore other methods of art — of creating — simply for the joy of it?

I’m looking forward to taking the pressure off myself for a bit, to explore what else life has in store.

Opening my own business has been an incredible experience. Thank you for being a part of it.

I've seen some new, friendly faces around here lately and thought it was time to do a little re-introduction! ✨

Hi! My name is Em, I'm a Chicago-based home wellness designer. I started The Comfort Cottage this year bc learning to care for my home + plants has taught me to take care of myself — and I think it’ll help heal you, too.

1. I’m an opera singer (seriously!)

Alaskan airport plants? You know I’m allllllll over it.

This big beauty is BEGGING for sunlight (a precious commodity, esp. in winter). To keep FLF’s happy, they need a whole bunch of it, otherwise they might get “leggy” in a last-ditch attempt to move closer to the sun.
