Center for Grief Recovery and Therapeutic Services Welcome to the Center's page! We are a nonprofit counseling center specializing in grief recovery, located in Rogers Park Chicago.

Each of our Chicago counselors and coaches creates a safe environment for you to express your deepest hurts and frustrations. We then offer you tools and patient, reliable guidance every step of the way towards feeling better. Our team each specializes in bereavement, coaching our peers, advising the news media, and nurturing companies through the grief process. We help you integrate feelings and experiences to move beyond helplessness and hopelessness into a life of new possibilities.

Dear colleagues,

I’m excited to share that I’ll be leading a professional development workshop on November 21 in our center’s 1261 Space—a beautiful, brick-and-tin-ceiling venue at 1261 W Loyola Ave—perfect for gatherings of 25–30 people.

As I’ve been planning, it struck me how well 1261 works for others too—ideal for workshops, seminars, yoga or dance classes, etc. It’s warm, flexible, and designed to foster real connection—something I myself and I believe others have been missing since the pandemic.

I have put together rental guidelines and rates for those interested in using the space. If you’d like to host your own event here—or know someone whose work fits our mission—I’d love to hear from you.

If you’re interested in renting 1261 feel free to contact me at 773-274-4600 or email at
dmfireman@comcast.net.

Warmly,
David

by David Fireman, LCSW The ego is a very complicated element of the personality.
